Sam was like a father to (Y/n).

What else could they think of him? When he had found them on the brink of death, surrounded by cave spiders, and saved them. Then gave them a place to stay until they were ready to head off on their own again. Then when they had returned to his doorstep one night, telling him that they had found nothing waiting for them in the world, what did he do?

He hired them.

(Y/n) POV:

You tapped your foot anxiously under the wooden table. Struggling to restrain yourself from chewing on your nails and destroying them.

You were definitely excited for today, Sam would finally be allowing you to meet the prisoner. There was only one thing that had you in this state.

Where was he?

It had been eight minutes past the time he said he would be here. Of course you only knew because of the clock on the wall made of obsidian. Your sense of time was awful without it. If it was someone else you wouldn't be so worried. But Sam wasn't the type to be late.

When the door handle begun to move at the slightest, you jumped up. Basically flying towards it. "Sam?" You questioned, opening the door from the unlocked side before he could finish.

He tackled you, grabbing your arms and almost slamming you onto the ground. Thankfully you responded quickly, and landed on your feet.

However you were leaning far enough back for Sam to push you and cause you to lose your balance.

"What the fuck Sam?!" You exclaimed, looking up at him tower above you as you lay on the cold obsidian.

"You need to be prepared! What if Dream attacks you? He's much more skilled in PVP than me, (Y/n)."

You rolled your eyes and let out a loud sigh. "Are you kidding me right now? You promised I could visit!"

"You still can if you get up."

You followed his instructions, "You're the reason I was down anyways..." You muttered.

Surprise attacks from Sam had actually become a normal occurrence. He explained that the area you now stayed in was dangerous, and you could never be so sure that you were safe.

You understood that it was his way of protecting you, but god damn the man was going to make you paranoid.

"Whatever, come o-"

The creeper hybrid didn't need to finish his sentence, you ran out the door without second thought.

"Let's go!" You squealed.

Sam eventually caught up to you, after you reached the locker room.
"You can't keep running ahead if you really wanna go." He deadpanned.

You stuck out your tongue, "Yes I can, because you promised!"

He only grumbled in response, signaling at you to back off.

Taking the hint, you tossed all your things into locker #1. And patted yourself down to make sure you held nothing else.

The only other person you had seen do this was the enderman hybrid who had previously visited a few days ago. He was the only other person besides Sam you had met here yet...Ranboo, was it?

You shook your head, whatever his name may be, more important things were happening.

"Alright, please sign these." Sam handed you the papers, "Make sure to read them first."

You nodded, scanning through them.

Why were you so eager to meet Dream? You couldn't really answer yourself. Maybe it was that you wanted to see for yourself what a criminal was like. Maybe it was something else. Just pure curiosity? Possibly.

After signing everything, you handed the clipboard to Same. He nodded a thanks.

"Walk through the portal in the next room, if you need me, just yell. I'll hear, I promise."

"Of course."

Sam gave a genuine smile before walking away, leaving you alone.

You opened the door to the room the portal stood in, and glanced around.

It was empty, all except for the portal of course. But why would it have anything in it? It is the portal room after all.

You exhaled deeply, taking a singular step towards the portal.

Another.

Another.

Yet again.

One more...

You step through the portal, it feels like a giant bubble. The air around you is lighter for only a moment. Before you find yourself in a warmer room, with the prisoner.

"And who might you be?"
