I wake up before I even realize I fell asleep. I sit up on the couch and try to look around for Allison in the pitch black, but she's no where to be found. She sounded pretty sincere when she told me that she'd be here for me, so that's why her being gone is alarming. I don't think she would leave me alone in the middle of the night unless she had to.
I stumble into the kitchen so that I can pour myself a glass of water. The oven's clock tells me that it is just shy of three in the morning.
Me and Tessa used to stay up all night every once and a while. She said that each hour had a different purpose; most of them just an activity to keep us awake, but three am was slightly more chill. This is the hour where we'd stop what we were doing to catch up.
I remember that last all-nighter we pulled a couple of weeks ago. Things were starting to get tense between me and Scott, but the worse that had happened, at that point, was birds flying into the English classroom. We were still so naive. Things were different.
"It's three!" I announce. We both know it's my favorite part of the night. I enjoy the time I get to connect with her. There's nothing interrupting our conversation, which as of late is a blessing.
"Okay, but I'm setting some rules," She pouts "We can't talk about Scott. I know you're worried about him, but I'm worried about you!"
"I can do that."
"First order of business," she pats her hand against her legs mimicking a drum roll "Stiles."
"I don't have anything to say about him this time."
"Just for tonight can we admit that you're still heads over heals for him?" She begs.
I want to protest. I'm absolutely not heads over heals for him, but I am. Not like I used to be, but there's still a part of my heart that beats for him.
"Just for tonight," I make her promise.
"So, he drove you home today"
"He did."
"Tell me about it!" She begs
"Nothing happened," Maybe it's not the full truth, but nothing that I understood happened.
"Bella," She presses.
"Well he did say something kind of weird." Tessa raises her eyebrows, telling me that I need to expand on that. "He made this big deal of pointing out that I wasn't his sister," I cringe "But I have no idea what that means."
"Are you dumb?!"
"I don't think so."
"He's obviously saying that he likes you," She explains.
I scrunch my nose, taken about by her statement. "Where did you get that? I'm confused."
"If Scott tried to kiss you that would be weird, right?"
"Ew! don't even say that."
"He wants you to know that if you kissed, him he wouldn't be grossed out." She spells out. "That's just a very simple way of saying he's totally into you!"
