"Do you really think you can bring him back with that pixie dust?"
The autobots, along with NEST, had been spotted landing at a town nearby. The group was just beginning to pack it up as Simmons called out from over the mountain. Using the mountain as some kind of rock to climb on, the girl found herself feeling a lot like a spider monkey.
Mikayla had found the matrix alright, but now that it had turned to dust, she wasn't sure what to do. How could she prove herself worthy of it when she already knew that's what she had to do?
It was.. confusing.
So, she nodded at Simmons, putting on a false bravado that she knew exactly what she was supposed to be doing.
She had no idea what she was supposed to be doing.

Emerson and Jazz both found their ways to the group of soldiers rather quickly. After E's heart rate had stopped it's assault on her body, she was finally ready to fight some goddamn decepticons.
"There she is!" There was a voice echoing across the sand. Em looked up to see two vague figures flagging the two down.
Jazz got her there in only a few moments, and she was set on the ground with a quick goodbye before the autobot went back to his station.
Epps raised an eye at the girl as he scanned her form. "Where'd you end up, kid?"
She blinked vaguely before sighing. "My parachute failed."
Neither of them expected the blunt answer from her, looking at one another with wide eyes.
"If you'll excuse me." She sighed, looking at the surrounding landscape. "I'm gonna go somewhere where I can sit down for a minute, because my legs are probably gonna give out."
Neither of them stopped her as she walked away.
---
All Mikayla could feel were her muscles burning, her entire body shaken up as the brunette raced across the battlefield.
The trio had somehow come across the two soldiers that they needed to see the most, now following behind as the two dragged them through the sand.
"Hold the air strike!" Epps screamed into his walkie talkie as they ran through, Lennox dragging the girl behind him as she stumbled along. Sam and Mikaela ran not too far behind them, supporting each other as they ran. "We're rescuing civilians!"
Mikayla's gut twisted, thoughts running a million miles a minute as they dodged blast after blast.
It'd been relieving to find Ironhide a while ago, at least, until Arcee was shot straight in the back by Megatron. The group didn't even have time to process the image before the warrior had yelled at them to get the hell out of there.
The group, through dirt and sand that stung her eyes, found their way to the outcropping of what looked to be the ruins of an old house- put together by mud bricks. They all ducked behind the wall to evade the blasts from either alien party.
She was left with only a moment to catch her breath, the reality of the situation falling over her shoulders like a blanket from hell.
Lennox turned on her with a narrowed expression as she raised her eyes. "You better have a good reason for us to be here."
Mikayla nodded, coughing through the dust in her lungs as she held up the bag of ashes- ashes that belonged to the one and only Matrix, something that they needed to protect with their lives.
A serious look crossed her features, grip tightening on the pouch in her hands. "This will work."
The Major inhaled through his teeth as he looked over her features, finding nothing but sincerity and reckless determination. Cursing softly under his breath, he looked around- as if to try pinning the blame on someone nearby, but he found no one.
