I toss over onto my side glaring through squinted eyes at my alarm clock. I slam my hand down and it finally shuts up.

7:00 a.m.

I sit up and rub my eyes, yawning silently. I finally decide to push my blanket off of me and begin getting ready.

I head into my bathroom, regretting it once I feel the cold tiles against my feet.

I give my face a quick wash and begin to brush my teeth. I jolt slightly at my phone vibrating loudly against my bathroom counter.

I sigh slightly when I see "Ben" glowing across my screen. He's a coworker, and he is always super happy and chirpy. Ew.

"What?" I say, my voice muffled from the tooth brush hanging out of my mouth.
"Remember to be careful on your way to work today." I could hear his smile through the phone.
"What do you mean?" I spit into the sink.
"Haven't you heard? That Luke Brooks kid hit up a bank just down the road from the hospital." Ben's voice didn't sound as chirpy.
"Okay." I mimicked his happy tone.
"See ya soon!"

I hung up without saying anything and began heading over to my closet. I pulled out a pair of pink scrubs, and threw them on along with my black lace victoria secret bra. I can already tell today may not go as well, so why not try to make it better?
I grabbed my purse off my apartment kitchen counter and a banana.
___

I pulled up at the hospital and parked in my designated spot, as always. I rolled my eyes when I saw Ben waiting for me right inside the door. "Heyyy!" He smiled pulling me into a hug. "Hi!" I smiled, sarcastically.

Before he could say anything else I shuffled over to the front desk. "Any files I can have?" I ask Darla, the receptionist. "Not yet sweetie, I'll print off a couple. They should be ready when you get back." She smiled "Okay." I sighed.
____

I tossed my purse into my locker and slammed it shut. Something felt weird. I'm not usually an extremely happy person, but today it's really bad.

I walk over to the mirror and adjust my hair into a low side bun. This is basically my signature hairstyle, I wear it all the time.

And just to try to make my day a little better, I throw on some mascara and eyeliner.

I make my way back to the front desk and to my surprise, there is a man about my age with a huge gash in his arm.

"I need you to get me in now." He states to Darla. "Sorry sir, we can't do that. How about you fill out-" "no, I said I need in now." He stated a little bit louder, interrupting her. "It's fine Darla, I can get him in. I haven't even gotten any files yet." I smile at her nervously.

She gives me a worried look, and I look over to the man. He is looking me up and down, and I start to feel uncomfortable.

"This way." I smile, and turn. The entire way to a room, I could feel his glare burning into my back. Right as we reach the room, I hear a group of guys who come up to the man. "We need to go." A guy who looks to be the other mans twin says. "I kinda need this fixed." He holds out his arm. The other man sighs, "fast."
_____

I lead the man into the room and he takes a seat on the bed. I pull out everything I need and begin to stitch up his arm. He hisses at the pain, "Sh*t!"
"Sorry." I say, not making eye contact with him. "Just hurry up." He says bluntly. I quickly glare at him, but when he notices I quickly look back down. As I worked on his arm, I could feel him staring at me. I hurried up. "Done!" I said louder than expected and backed away. I didn't take any time to start cleaning up, anything to avoid eye contact with this guy, Luke was his name?

I heard the curtain pull. I turned around, and he was gone. I looked back at where he was previously sitting. His wallet was left on the seat. I walked over to pick it up. I began to open it to look at his ID.

Luke Brooks.

I feel my stomach drop and I almost fall back when the wallet is whipped from my hands. "What the f*ck? Why are you looking through my stuff?" He shouted. I stumbled on my words, "I- I'm sorry." I whimpered.
My eyes met his, and we both stayed silent for a second. The only movement was my chest rising and falling rapidly. I almost screamed when he walked quickly towards me, "do it again and I'll k-." He began, but stopped quickly. I closed my eyes, scared he was going to hurt me.

There was a moment of silence and I slowly began to open my eyes. He flicked my bra strap that showed from my sleeve that had fallen down. "That's hot by the way, Danielle." He winked.

He began to walk out. "How do you know my name?" I lifted my sleeve. He was halfway out the curtain, before he turned to me. I furrowed my eyebrows and he smirked.

I watched as he left the room, and I could hear his voice, along with his friends as they walked down the hall. I didn't even try to comprehend what they were saying.

I was too focused on that fact that he could of very well been the Luke Brooks. The criminal, Luke Brooks.
