"Hey, there they are! Felix!!" A boy shouted from far away and ran towards the two men, the younger one looking confused as he didn't know who was sprinting in their direction. "Who's that..?" Lix asked as he hid his face in his friend's shoulder. "He's Hoshu, from the dance team?" Woah! He almost didn't recognise the small, cute 14 year old Japanese guy from school. He'd grown so much! "Wow look at how much you've grown! Wow I didn't recognise you." He explained once the little boy was in front of them. Well, he wasn't little anymore, he was a bit taller than Chris even. "Well I mean this man's 15 now! Come let's go to the others!" The young one said and pushed the two older boys towards the rest. Ryan, Minho, Hyunjin, the usual people. Also Jisung, who was new to the friend circle that had formed in Lix's absence. Chris put the disabled one down and both greeted everyone. "Woah Lix you're whiter than Mark's balls! Time to get some sun!" Ryan said and everyone laughed at his joke. "Well, Ryan, your cock and balls are probably the only things that are attached to you aren't they?" Mark came back and they all broke out laughing again. Felix had barely arrived, but he was already having the time of his life again. The two boys who had been constantly teasing each other had now ended up battling each other on the grass, the younger one being on top and pretending to choke the former leader of the dance team. "I'll help you!" Lix declared and crawled over to them, also pretending to choke his friend. "The fuck are you doing Fox?" Chris asked from behind him. "I'm helping Mark, obviously!" He explained and the others laughed. Hyunjin pulled Lix off of the ex dance team member, Jisung doing the same with mark. He hugged the admittedly handsome Korean guy, pressing his head into his belly so he could quiet down his hysteric laugh. "Dude if you don't all shut up in three seconds I'm gonna dropkick every single one of you, alright?" The oldest one, Chris, stated. "Well Felix is gonna knock your head off, he's a black belt in Taekwondo!" Hoshu explained and laughed in victory. "Hey...I haven't played any sports in so long, I probably wouldn't even get my legs up a centimetre." Lix quietly explained, embarrassed at the fact that the once so overly athletic kid was now just a loser when it came to any kind of sporty activity. "We understand. I mean you would still be better than any of us I guess." "No... I actually don't think so..." "Aw Felix come on don't underestimate yourself." He and Ryan went on back and forth, the older one trying to encourage him to not give up. "Guys I have to focus on therapy for now, okay?" Lix explained and sighed. "What do you have to do during therapy?" Chris asked. "It's water therapy. Sometimes I just swim around, and sometimes I have to walk or do other things. It's hard, but also fun at the same time." "Hey we can go into the ocean then! There's salt water, that can carry him!" The youngest boy said and hugged his 'idol'. "Guys the first thing that I'm gonna do when I get out of here is go to church. I miss going so much." Lix explained and for fun, he did the Catholic cross sign, causing everyone to blurt out laughing. A year ago, he would've gotten super mad at them for disrespecting his religion, but now, he just wanted to make them laugh. Maybe also to make himself happy, to make himself forget his pain even for a few moments. "Dudes we gotta eat or this man's gonna starve right here." Chris issued and held his stomach as it growled. "Dude the fuck's wrong with your stomach?" Mark asked as the growl was so loud it could've been a bear making the sound. "That wasn't his tummy, idiot. It's thunder storming! Everyone get inside!" Ryan exclaimed and was the first to jump up and run into the building. Minho and Sam followed close behind, the rest also being on their feet and hurrying inside. Just Felix was left outside, trying his best to get up. By the time he had made it over to a streetlight, it was already pouring rain. They just abandoned me! He complained in his mind while trying to hoist himself up with the help of the streetlight. Again, when he made it on his feet, he was already soaking wet. Now came the biggest challenge, walking all the way back inside. Why was he so stupid and didn't take his wheelchair?! He was still suffering from the aftermaths of his pneumonia and this was gonna make it all worse again! If only he had listened to Lina! Every step hurt as if he had been struck by lightning and he could've screamed in pain every time he just raised his leg to get inside. Lix knew that he wouldn't be able to do anything for the next couple days if he didn't find a better way than walking. He somehow made it to the hospital door and for once, luck seemed to be on his side since he saw an abandoned hospital wheelchair standing just under the roof of the entrance. He did what he called 'running', it was really just a normal speed walk for any other human, and sat down in it once it was in reach. He breathed a sigh of relief, and even though he was still hurting, it wasn't nearly as much as when he had walked. Though he knew he was lucky, since he could've easily fallen and broken a bone. "Boy what're you doing outside? Come get in!" A young man, probably a doctor, said and grabbed Felix in his wheelchair, bringing him towards the door. "I was outside with my friends and without my wheelchair and when it started raining they just ran inside and forgot me." He explained and was relieved to feel the warm air of the hospital swap over him. "That is not acceptable. Where are your friends? I need to talk to them." The medical professional asked and now stood in front of the boy, looking down at him. "I... I don't know. They just ran inside, like I said." "Okay then I'll just bring you to your hospital ward. Which one is it?" "The... The ICU..." Lix mumbled in embarassment. "Huh? Well how did you get out of there?" The doctor asked and chuckled, already wheeling the young guy towards the elevator. "My friend just took me and I guess no one saw us." He explained and rested his head on his arm because his entire back and neck hurt like his spine was gonna snap any minute. "Why were you in the icu in the first place?" "I suffered from pneumonia for a couple of weeks and actually I still need oxygen. Actually I'm a regular on the ICU, I got into a nasty car crash in March this year and I've barely been out of here since then." Lix quietly explained, his throat still hurting from laughing so much only a few minutes ago. "Oh I'm sorry." The doctor said from behind him. "You know, I think a lot of people think to forget that doctors and nurses are just human beings. When I first got into the hospital, oh actually no, when I woke up out of my coma, I thought that the nurses and everyone else had seen cases much worse than me and that they'd be kinda cold towards me having this accident and all. But when for example they told me that I'd probably be in a wheelchair for the rest of my life, there were three nurses in my room, two younger ones and an older one, and after they left my room, I could just hear them cry outside. And I thought that they wouldn't care." Felix explained everything in detail. He was actually surprised that the doc expressed he was sorry right away, since even the nurses that cried in front of his room told him that, nor did anyone else of the hospital workers. "Yes you're absolutely right. They just have to acknowledge that we're people and we all can make mistakes. Also, I don't know your medical history, but I can tell you that yes, I probably have seen worse cases than you. But still. You're so young, I mean at least you look very young, and telling someone they need to be in a wheelchair for the rest of their life can be just as hard as telling a mother her kid passed away. Trust me, I've been there. But it's just something you agree to when become a healthcare worker. And yeah, some do kinda lose their empathy sometimes, but that's just the doctors that worked way longer than they should've." The older male explained and chuckled, but Fox's pain suddenly got so much worse that he couldn't focus anymore. He suspected that the pain killers he took stopped working. "Please hurry, mister.." he begged as he was just about to scream from the horrible pain going through his legs and slowly making its way up. "Please...I need morphine..." Lix explained again and started crying. He'd never felt that horrible kind of pain. It was a mix of something hammering against his bones, but the hammer had more needles attached to it, and a tearing on his muscles as if someone was ripping them out. "Please!" He cried out and let his head fall backwards, letting out a short scream of pain. "We're here we're here! Guys I need some help with him!" The doctor called out to the nurses on duty and they all rushed to them. "Felix? Where were you?" The oldest one asked as she hurriedly snatched him from the doctor and wheeled him into his room, transporting him onto his bed. "Morphine...please." He asked for relief and soon, he got that, well somehow. His muscles still hurt but it wasn't nearly as much. "lix?! Oh my god what happened?" Lina, who had been asleep on a bed next to him, suddenly said and shot up, immediately grabbing his hand. So, now that he was a bit better and not screaming in pain anymore, Felix told the whole story. That he'd been out with his friends and that they had forgotten him once the thunderstorm started. Honestly, the fact that he was abandoned hurt more than the physical pain he had just experienced. It was much, much worse. "I knew that they didn't want me in their group anymore... But why would they bother and spend time with me if they just leave me?" He asked and cried as his girlfriend caressed his hand, quietly hushing him. "Hey. Baby, let's get you into different clothes first before you freeze to death here, okay?" The girl asked and kissed his wet forehead, not sure if it was from the rain or sweat, and carefully lifted him up. "Don't... It hurts..." He quietly complained as he bit his lip and let out a shakey breath through his nose. "We're just gonna change you then you can rest." Li said and sat him down on a chair in the bathroom, pulling his sweatshirt of his drenched wet body. He had goosebumps, arms also covered in dark violet bruises from when he desperately tried to push himself up. His fiance had managed to rip off all clothes Felix was wearing and now started drying him off with a warm towel. She put a hand on his right leg, close to his crotch, and gently wiped over it to distract him from the pain. "Can I shave your body hair while I'm at it?" She asked and the boy just nodded. Call him weird but he didn't like having that much hair on his arms and legs so he used to shave every two days, but since the recent incident he had completely fallen behind with body care. Either Li, the nurses and sometimes Chris washed him, but none of them shaved him. "Hey Lix~" He felt a hand on his cheek, a thumb gently wiping over it. "What..." He growled back out of pure tiredness. "Raise your arms please so I can put a sweater on you." "Didn't you wanna shave me?" "Haha baby that's already done I'll dress you and then you can rest." Li answered and laughed at Felix's sleep drunken face. So, he did what she wanted and cooporated a bit so a hoodie and eventually pants were now on him. (Yellow hoodie like in the pic). All of a sudden, he got yanked on his feet and whimpered out in pain, pressing as close to his girlfriend as he could as not to fall. Lix let out a pained moan before he got gently picked up. Just for a second, he looked at himself in the mirror. A pale face, terrible dark bags under his eyes and noodle thin arms hanging out of the way too big hoodie, his hair all fuzzy from the rain. He didn't see it but it was obvious that a bigger amount had come out again, just from drying it. Felix wanted to vomit at the sight, it was so sickening looking like that. How can anyone still look at me? He thought and tears shot in his eyes again while carefully being tugged into bed. "I wanna cuddle... I'm cold." He complained while the girl just sat down next to him. So, she got up and pushed the second bed in his room closer to his, lying down in it as well. Lix immediately crawled over to her with the last bit of strength he had left and rested his head on Lina's shoulder, then let it fall down to her chest. "Was it at least a bit nice, hanging out with the boys?" She asked and Fox just nodded, yawning. "Naww, that was an exhausting adventure, wasn't it? Go to sleep and then you can tell me about it later." Li kissed his still damp hair and put an arm around him, drifting off into sleep herself. And adventure. Yes that's what he could've had. He had had a great adventure. Like one of those fantasy princes who at the end, always got what they wanted. He did. Just like in a fairytale, the prince went to a lot of hardships and pain, just to live happily ever after with his princess in a big castle. That's a great fairytale I can tell to Johnny! That were Lix's final thoughts that day, before he went to sleep.
