Y/n POV.

It was early 2011, around December. Heroes soaring the skies, Villains lurking in the alleyways, just typical life here. I would say it's nothing too special? Or maybe I'm just ungrateful.

I Stared at the ceiling waiting for the uncomfortable loud event that I was sure to face later on in the day take place
𝘐 𝘮𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘢𝘴 𝘸𝘦𝘭𝘭 𝘭𝘢𝘺 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦.

I looked down rubbing my leg. 𝘐𝘮 𝘲𝘶𝘪𝘵𝘦 𝘥𝘪𝘳𝘵𝘺.
I should really take a shower but I didn't want to risk my well-being by sneaking out my room.

𝐀 𝐟𝐞𝐰 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬 𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐝..

It was now night, I spent my day staring out my window watching the city with a few occasional fights starting outside my room.

𝘐𝘧 𝘏𝘦𝘳𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘴𝘶𝘤𝘩 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦.. 𝘞𝘩𝘺 𝘸𝘰𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘱 𝘮𝘦 ? 𝘈𝘮 𝘪 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘩 𝘪𝘵. I spent most days with that question on my mind, sometimes obsessing for hours, today was one of those days, but it turned out to be quite worse this evening.

I heard a knock at my door
"..hello?" I yelled out
"Get out, come here right now young lady"
𝘪𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘮𝘺 𝘮𝘰𝘮.

I hesitantly got up walking towards the door.
Before I could get to it, it busted open.

"HURRY UP" my mom looked down on me angrily

I looked up into those same eyes who crushed my happy spirit as a kid, the same eyes who ruined everything I looked up to.

"Stop staring at me like that and get over here"
She pulled my hair dragging me out

"MOM CMON CUT IT OUT PLEASE" I tried hitting her arm away but it made her even angrier
"STOP HITTING ME AND JUST OBEY Y/N"
She threw me onto the kitchen ground

"Listen, we have guests coming over and I don't want you here to embarrass me"
She handed me five dollars

I obviously took it since I never got money.
I heard rustling and looked up to see my other sibling, s/n, peaking out from the corner

"Um what are you guys doing..?" He came out and looked at the mess we made. All the knocked down tables and lamps

My mom stepped in front of me so I couldn't speak "nothing, now go get dressed, we have guests coming over" she then looked over at me and pointed towards the front door. "Go."

I hurried up and ran out avoiding getting hit. I slammed the door behind me. This wasn't the first time this has happened, I'll just go to the bridge.

It was hard trying not to be seen, I'm just a kid, 8 years old. Even I would be suspicious to see a kid out this late. It's not everyday some parent would let their children out at night, definitely not with the amount of villains there are this year..it's basically abuse.

I started my walk to the bridge just like any other night. I felt the breeze blow my hair back, it felt like I was flying, it created my first smiled I've had in a week. I'm so greatful.

I started to run through the wind with my arms out. 𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘣𝘦 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭.. 𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘢 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦. 𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘴𝘰 𝘭𝘶𝘤𝘬𝘺.
