The large injuries across my back burned, as I was pulled into Shirou's warm, protective, embrace. I felt tears well up in my golden amber eyes. I touched the back of his neck and felt crimson trickle through my fingers. "Are you okay?" I asked him, moving my hand to avoid putting him in any pain. "You're ignoring your pain for me?" I looked up, to see his deep grey-blue eyes staring back at me with slight concern. "What pain?" I asked, wincing, but giving a small smile.
[Ok, ok let's back up a little bit. It started one night at the Beastman Co-op.]
Shirou's POV: Rain poured down on the roof above me. I lay in bed, shivering, although under layers of blankets. I stared out the window into the darkness of night. Boom. I instinctively turned into my beastman form. Lightning illuminated the sky. I whimpered in frustration. It was about midnight and I couldn't sleep. I heard footsteps outside my room. I sat up, still in beastman form. The door creaked open, and I saw [Y/N] standing there, a look of concern across their face.Your POV: I was woken up by a loud crack of thunder, but I heard whimpering from the next room over. I didn't want to barge in, but my worry got the best of me. I carefully pushed the door open, to see Shirou curled in a ball. "Hey, are you alright?" I asked, taking a small step toward his bed. "I'm fine." I heard him grumble, before turning away from me. More thunder. Another whimper. 'Oh.' I walked over to him, and sat down, gently placing my hand on his face. "W-what are you doing?" He turned to look at me. Crack. I flinched. "My mother would do this for me as a kid when I was scared."
"I'm not scared." He said, the tiniest bit irritated. "The thunder just brings some not-so-great memories to the front of my mind." My chest felt heavy. Shirou had told me a lot about his past, and I knew exactly what he meant. "Can I tell you a secret? Well, really it's more of a story." I smiled at him. "Sure." He replied. I could hear a slight shakiness in his voice. "Ok, so I'll try to make this short." [Author's note: Y/N is immortal like Shirou and also has a Ginrou form, but they don't know about each other. Shirou doesn't know about Y/N being immortal which is why he is hesitant to confess to them, since he doesn't want to lose them.] "A long time ago, there was a boy I fell in love with. I can't remember anything about him, but I remember this. One day my father found out and he revealed that 2 years earlier he murdered the boy's parents. My mother got mad, so my father shot her-" A small droplet rolled down my face. I looked at Shirou. He had a look of pure shock on his face. "What?" I asked. "Come to the roof I want to tell you something." "In the rain?" I asked, skeptical. "I need you to trust me." I did. I nodded, then he grabbed my wrist and pulled me to the roof. The rain pelted down onto us soaking me. He backed away from me, then put a gloved hand over the black collar around his neck. He pulled it off, and blue light surrounded me. A huge, silver-blue wolf stood before me. All I could do was stand there in pure shock. "Y-you're the silver wolf." I muttered in awe. "I fell in love with someone some thousand years ago." He said. "Their father killed my parents and their mother." I figured he already knew, but I had to tell him. Golden light surrounded us as I transformed into my Ginrou form, a golden 9-tailed kitsune. Shirou walked over to me. We were both soaked, but smiling. "Y-you're immortal too aren't you?" He asked. "Yeah." "Where have you been all this time?" "I honestly don't know, but Shirou," We shared warm smiles. "Now I just want to tell you I love you." He nuzzled his face into my neck. "I love you more." We both turned back into our beastman forms and kissed.
Shirou's POV: "Aww~ How sweet." I heard a voice from behind us say. It was calm, but dripping with sarcasm. I knew that bastard's voice anywhere. I growled. "Alan." We broke the embrace, and I gently pushed [Y/N] behind me. "Stay here." Alan turned into his beastman form. "Hello wolfboy, I believe we have some unfinished business." I wanted to tear him apart. "You could say that." [Y/N] whimpered behind me. "Oh, hello, foxy~" Alan pulled out a gun and shot at me. I deflected, and ran at him claws at the ready. He dodged, and shot at me again. I jumped and grabbed the gun out of his hand, and put it to his head. Before I could pull the trigger, he lunged toward me. I stepped to the side. "You missed." He smirked. "Actually I'm right on target!" 'Shit!!' His huge claws sunk deep into [Y/N]'s back. They fell to the ground, scarlet pooling at Alan's feet. Then I snapped. I ran toward them no longer paying any attention to Alan. The other wolf clawed the back of my neck, letting blood trickle down my back. I whipped around, and kicked him in the stomach, sending him careening off the rooftop. I knew he'd be fine, but dealing with him wasn't my first priority.
[And that brings us to the present time!]
Your POV: The large injuries across my back burned, as I was pulled into Shirou's warm, protective, embrace. Shirou turned into his human form, and picked me up bridal style, as he carried me to his room. By the time we got there, the sleeves of his once black shirt were soaked in blood. I buried my face into his chest, my vision going blurry. "Shirou I- ah" I flinched, gripping his shirt, as he gently held me. His breath hitched. "Are you okay?" He asked, deep concern in his voice. I collapsed into his arms.
Shirou's POV: Shit. I carefully placed [Y/N] down on the couch, and ran over to my desk. I opened a drawer, and pulled bandages out of the drawer I gently treated their wounds, before wrapping bandages around my neck, and going back up to the roof to retrieve my collar. I came back into my room, and changed out of my wet, blood-soaked clothes. I pulled up a chair next to the couch. I stared at the figure laying before me. How long had I waited? Minutes? Hours? I would wait until the end of the world if I had to. I held their hand in mine and intertwined our fingers. I found myself sobbing. 'What the hell is wrong with me? This is my fault. I should've just taken the hit. They wouldn't have gotten hurt.' I felt a soft hand on my face wipe a tear from my eye. "Are you alright?" It felt like I hadn't heard their voice in so long. My eyes widened. "I'm fine moonlight." Their hand still in mine, I pulled them to the bed.
Your POV: Shirou pulled me to his bed. He nuzzled his face in my neck and wrapped his arms around my waist. He gently cradled me, as I melted into his strong arms. I shivered, then felt him pull a warm blanket over both of us. I turned to face him. He turned into his beastman form. I couldn't help but notice how soft his fur was. "Can I ask you something?" He said. I nodded. "Clearly, I'm scared of lightning, but what are you scared of?" The question surprised me, but I wasn't hesitant to answer. "Losing you again." He pulled me closer. "I'll always protect you, idiot." "You are my happiness."
