Five months had passed since the day Riley moved in with Amelia and about three since their Cal, Riley's boyfriend, moved in with them. It was December, one of Riley's favorite months of the year. They always loved the way the snow covers the ground and the way ice forms around tree branches so it shimmers in the soft moonlight. But even with all the nice things about December, it was still a sad time. Memories of happier times with their family only get stronger around christmas. But they knew that they couldn't go back to them. Not after what happened. Not like their family would even want them anymore. It doesn't matter anyhow. This year they have other people to share it with. Much better compared to none that they had for the previous three christmases. It was strange though, how they went so long without anybody then finding two people consecutively. Amelia is their best friend and they don't know what they would do without her, she made the last few months good. Then there was Cal. He was on a whole other level. A level they never though they would find in a person. Riley thought things were looking up but little did they know that someone else from their past would soon make an appearance.
