Yata eventually chose his piercings. One industrial on his left ear and both lobes. Asuka congratulated him on his choice, telling him that he had good taste and the new additions would look good. She handed him a handful of clips and a mirror. He hesitantly took them, glancing up at her like she was crazy. She just rolled her eyes and laughed.
"Take off your beanie and pin the hair on your left side out of the way. Your lobes will be easy enough but the industrial is a bit more complicated, and painful." Once she was done with her explanation she turned away, walking over to a wall of shelving. There was a roller tray beside it. She sanitized it and went through the proper motions of sterilizing the equipment and pulling on a pair of latex gloves. She hummed as she found the correct jewelry and needles. While she was over there she grabbed extra disinfectant and q-tips incase Yata was a bleeder. When she was done she rolled the tray over to where Yata sat. He had his hair pinned up with more clips than necessary and beanie in his lap. he looked confused and absolutely adorable. Asuka giggled and Yata flushed pink, looking away from the joyful girl.
"So, imma do the industrial first because it'll take the most time and hurt the worst. And you need to move to the bench and lie down. Do you bleed easily?"
"Uh...wouldn't really know. Only been stabbed once and that tends to bleed a lot."
"...good to know..." Asuka chuckled. "Do you wanna leave the placement up to me or do you want to choose?"
"I'll leave that to you." Yata replied, secretly applauding himself for not stuttering.
She pulled a stool out form underneath the table Yata had laid down on with her foot, not wanting to change her gloves more than needed. She sat down on the bench and positioned Yatas head to where it needed to be. For once she was silent. A calm air fell over the room as Asuka found the right placement on Yatas ear for his industrial piercing. When she found it she picked up the needle.
"Deep breath in. Deep breath out."
The needle broke through cartilage with a crunch, forcing a small string of sear words from the skater boys lips. Asuka grabbed the second needle.
"Deep breath in. Deep breath out."
The needle broke through cartilage with a crunch once again. Yata swore again, balling his beanie up in his fists. Asuka kept silent as Yata swore, grabbing the bar and slipping it into place with a gentle hand. As Yata managed to get his swearing under control she cleaned up the blood from the puncture sites.
"Good job, the worst is over." She comforted Yata with a gentle smile, tapping his cheek gently with her knuckles. Yata flushed and nodded. "Don't sit up too fast, don't want you passin' out on me." She joked as she turned back to her tray to pick up the next needle.
Slowly Yata sat up, resting against his hands as his head swarmed slightly. He screwed his eyes shut and took a slow breath in. Asuka rolled herself over and sat in front of him. When he opened his eyes he was met with dark eyes lit with concern.
"Water and crackers?" Yata just blinked slowly. "Water and crackers."
Asuka pulled her gloves off and disappeared through a doorway, coming back as quickly as she disappeared. She handed Yata a cold water bottle and a small packet of crackers. He took both with a small smile, cracking the seal on the bottle and slowly sipping the cold contents. Asuka smiled as he did, patting his knee gently as she walked back over to the wall of shelving and grabbed a new pair of gloves.
"Wanna do the others?"
"Yeah, lets fuckin do it."
Asuka smiled and grabbed the needle again, standing close to Yata in order to see where the needle needed to go. Yata twisted the cap back onto the water bottle and followed her instructions, 'deep breath in. deep breath out'. The lobes were easy, the other one done just as quickly as the first. When Asuka was done cleaning up what blood she could she pulled off her gloves. Gently avoiding his freshly pierced ear she pulled the clips from his hair. It stuck up at odd angles from being clipped into a new position. With an amused snort she patted it down best she could.
She sat back down on her stool and explained how to care for his new additions. While she talked Yata slowly sipped on his water, finally able to keep his eyes on her. She was different. Asuka didn't seem put off by his shyness or stuttering like most girls did. She actually seemed to find it endearing and funny. Though, she never teased him or asked any questions about it.
When she finished her talk about proper piercing care she cleaned up quickly, leading Yata back to the front room. The two sat back down at the counter. Yata shared his crackers with Asuka as they talked about everything and nothing. Somehow kings were brought up. There was no judgement and Asuka actually seemed to be invested in Yatas story of how he came to HOMRA and how they were a family. There was a longing sparkle in her eyes as he talked.
"Man, I wish I had clansmen. It's lonely being a king without a clan." Asuka complained, slapping a hand over her mouth when she realized what she had said. Yatas eyes went wide and he sat up straight on his stool.
"What the fuck do you mean?"
"Oh fuck me runnin..." Asuka whined, dropping her head onto the counter top. Yata just stared at the girl in front of him, unsure of how to read the situation.
"So, basically I am a king. Or queen, whatever title works best its the same thing wither way. And a strain. And I have never had a clan so no one knows I even exist." Asuka admitted, looking up at Yata from her slumped position on the counter.
"How in the shit did you figure that out? And why should I trust you?"
"The guy that owns this place is a strain. He's taught me what he can and left the rest up to me to figure out on my own." Asuka sat up and pulled her hair out of its pony tail. She walked around the counter and stood in front of Yata, shifting her weight back and fourth between her feet anxiously.
"I can prove that I am a strain and a king, but I don't want to call upon my sword if I don't have to so you're just gonna have to take my word for what its worth on that part." With a deep breath smoke started to roll off of Asukas shoulders.
Her dark hair glistened in the light, the blue-green tint flashing before she disappeared within the smoke. There was a sudden squawk of a crow and the smoke cleared. Sat on the ground where Asuka previously stood was a rather large crow. it was a beautiful bird. It's oil-spill like wings were glossy and reflective in the light. Yata stared slack-jawed at the bird. Asuka cried out and flapped her wings, taking to the air to fly around Yatas head and land on his shoulder.
"That's so fuckin cool." He murmured in awe, gently running a finger over the top of Asukas feathered head. She squawked in return.
