Chapter 3
Walking the dogs

I woke up the next morning at 8:37am with Jake lying on his stomach next me. If your wondering, yes, Jake and I share a house together. I quietly slid out of bed and had a quick shower before getting dressed into something for the park and put my hair into a messy bun (http://www.polyvore.com/m/set?.embedder=8691016&.svc=copypaste&id=111364699 ). I went downstairs and grabbed the newspaper from the front porch before going into the kitchen. I poured myself some cereal and a glass of orange juice and sat down at the kitchen table and read the newspaper as I ate.

Once I was done, I put my stuff in the dishwasher and grabbed Barry's leash. Barry is my dog, every Sunday morning I take him for a walk. Its also a good time to clear my head.
"Barry." I called out as I walked to the front door. Sooner than I thought, Barry cam running towards me at full speed. He finally slowed down and I was able to put his leash on before walking out the door and down the street to the park.

It was a beautiful Sunday morning here in L.A and everything was nice and quiet. The best thing about taking Barry for a walk early on a Sunday is that hardly anyone was about.
I decided to let Barry off of his leash so he could go for a run. I sat down on a bench and watched him run around for a bit until he ran into someone. I quickly got up and ran over there and put Barry back on his leash and went to see who he pushed to the ground.

"Are you okay?" I asked quickly and looked down at he person. He was wearing sunglasses and a baseball cap so I couldn't see his face.
"Yeah." He groaned and took his sunglasses off. "Daniella?"
"James?"
"Hi." He said.
"Hi." I said with a smile.
"I should probably stand up now."
"Yeah." I laughed as I helped him stand up. "You sure your okay? You took quite a fall."
"I'm sure." He said as he dusted himself off. "So this is your dog?"
"This is him. His names Barry." I said and James laughed a little.
"Barry? Thats..quite a name." He said.
"Yeah." I laughed. "What are you doing here?"
"Just taking Fox for a walk." He said looking down at the cute little dog by his feet.
"Awwh. His so cute." I smiled.
"I've heard." He said with a slight laugh.
I looked back up at him and noticed he had a bit of dirt on his cheek. "Oh, you have a bit of.." I said trailing off.
"What?" James said confused.
"Lemme just.." I said as I smoothed my thumb over his cheek, brushing the dirt off his cheek. I noticed that he was looking at me, watching every move I made. I moved my eyes to his and just stared, losing myself in my own little world.
I finally snapped myself out of my daze when I remembered that he was my boyfriends brothers.
I took my hand away from his cheek and stepped back a little and said, "Sorry." I looked down and pushed my sunglasses up my nose a little more.
"No worries." He said. I looked back up at him and he stepped back a little too. "Wanna walk with me?"
"Sure." I smiled.
We walked around the park for a while, just talking and laughing. James was great, I loved talking to him. But I had to keep reminding myself that he was Jakes brother. Every time James did something that I just loved like when he flipped his hair or when he laughed really hard at something, I had to remind myself that I loved Jake.
"This is nice." James said. I looked up at him and he had a small smile. "I like hanging out with you."
"I do too. Its much more fun walking my dog with you than on my own." I smiled.
"We should make this a weekly thing."
"I agree."
"Good. Then its settled. Every Sunday morning, me, you and the dogs come here for a few hours." James said happily. "Deal?"
"Deal." I said with a big smile. I was about to say something else when my phone started to ring.

"Hello?" I said once I answered the phone.
"Hey baby." Jake said.
"Hey." I sighed.
"When are you going to be home? You've been gone for hours." He said and emphasized 'hours'.
"I haven't been out THAT long." I said. I've only been gone for an hour or two.
"Daniella its half 1 in the afternoon." He told me.
"Are you sure?" I said, a little shocked. Surely I haven't been out for five and a half hours.
"Positive. So are you coming home now or what?" Jake asked. "We were supposed to have a Pirates of the Caribbean marathon."
"Okay. Im on my way home now."
"Great. See you soon." He said quickly and before I had the chance to answer, he hung up.

"I gotta go." I said.
"Oh. Okay." James said, sounding a little disappointed.
"I'll see you next week right?"
"Yeah." He said, sounding a little more happy.
"Great." I said and gave him a quick hug. I pulled away and said, "I'll see you next week."
"Bye." James said as I started to walk away, back home.
