Chapter 11

The Perfect Date

"Are we there yet?" I asked and fiddled with the end of my dress to keep me occupied. James had one hand on the wheel and I noticed his other hand was slowly creeping towards me, wanting a grip on my own.

"We've only been driving for 15minutes." He said, chuckling.

"Im inpatient okay!" I said, trying to hold back my laugh.

"I guess Im gonna have to get used to that." He smiled. I knew what he meant by that. He knew that he was gonna be the one walking away with my heart. But who knows. He looked over at me for a second with a smile. A smile that I loved. I moved my hand and it made its way to James' and our fingers intertwined together and I felt a happy sensation when James' hand touched mine. He made me happier. "So, does Jake know where you are today?" He asked.

What do I say?! I cant tell him whats going on in my head. I soon came to the conclusion that this was all a game. A game where two people are fighting for the heart of another. But I hold all the cards. Like I said before, Im not gonna make them think that Im weak and will fall for anything. But I cant let them know what I do with them. Jake doesnt know Im hanging out with James. And Im not gonna let James know ANYTHING about what Jake and I do.

"No." I said flatly. "He thinks Im at home, all alone."

"Oh. You guys doing anything tonight?" He asked. I saw his knuckles turn white as his grip on the wheel got tighter and I started to loose feeling in my fingers, but I ignored it.

"I dont think it matters." I said and his grip got tighter. I know he wasnt mad at me or anything, he was furious with his brother. He was furious that Jake got the heart of the one he supposedly loved. "Lets not talk about him. This is our date." I said quickly when I felt like my fingers were about to fall off. His grip didn't loosen so I quickly leaned over and gave him a kiss on the corner of his mouth. The feeling in my fingers started to come back and the colour of James' knuckles turned back to their ordinary colour as his grip loosened. I even saw him smirking.

"Your right," He said. "This is our date."

He stopped the car. I looked around at where we were.

"A golf course?" I asked, confused.

"A golf course thats closed for the day." He said as he got out of the car. I got out also and went to the back of the car where James pulled out a picnic basket and a blanket.

"If its closed, what are we doing here?" I asked, confused.

"Having a picnic silly." He smiled. He closed the trunk of the car and walked to the tall fence which was locked.

"How are we getting in?" I asked. I wonder if he saw this coming.

"Your gonna climb over first, then me."

"What about the basket and the blanket?" I asked.

"When I get to the top, I'll pass it down to you. Simple." He smiled. I laughed a little. I've never done anything like this and I didn't want to get caught.

I took my shoes off and threw them over the fence and started to climb. I almost slipped every now and then but once I was on the top, I just jumped down. James threw the blanket over and moved the basket up his arm a little more and started to climb over. When he was at the top of the fence, he handed me the basket, which I took, and then he jumped down. He took the basket from my hands and I picked up my shoes and the blanket. "Lets go!" He took my hand and we started to walk. I didn't know where we was going, I dont think he even knew.

"So why did you choose this place to have a picnic?" I asked, breaking the silence. "Theres the park, the beach, we could even had a living room picnic. Why the golf course?"

"I have my reasons." He smirked.

"Care to share them with me?"

"Later." He said. "I think this is a nice spot to have out picnic." He stopped walking at the top of a hill which was by a pond. He took the blanket from my hands and place it on the ground and sat down. I threw my shoes aside and sat next to him. I looked around and took in my surroundings. Everything looked so green and bright. There were a few ditches and flags and, surrounding the whole place, were tall trees with thin branches and got thicker as they got higher. The pond bellow us was a pure, dark blue. There were tall strands of grass and lily pads and lots of pond flowers. I could just make out the fishes swimming around in the water. The sky was crystal blue with only a few clouds spread across. Everything was...

"Perfect." I whispered.
