Chapter 6
The perfect kiss

It took me a second to realize that he was leaning in, getting closer and closer, and I was too.

My heart was beating faster than ever and it felt like it was about to burst out of my chest. I felt butterflies fluttering around in my stomach and my knees felt so weak, it was hard to stand. Everything seemed to slow down as I waited for his lips to meet mine. Why did I want this? I've known the guy for 2days and his the brother of my boyfriend. But I forgot all of that and just focused on this moment. With James.

"Forgot my keys." Sally said as she walked back in the room and James and I stepped back almost instantly. "Bye guys." She said as she grabbed her keys and left.

It was awkward all of sudden and I couldn't help but feel a little disappointed that James and I didn't kiss. I really wanted to.

I picked Charlie up off the table and took him to the back where he would spend the night. Once Charlie was all sorted, I went back out to James and he was standing there a little awkwardly.

"You all right?" I asked him.
"Oh, yeah." He said quickly but he sounded a bit disappointed. Maybe he wanted that kiss as much as me. "I should probably get going now. Its late."
"Yeah. I need to get back too. Jake will be wondering where I am." I said. James waited until I finished turning all the lights off and setting the alarms before he went. Once I was out and the door was locked, he walked me to my car. It was still raining pretty hard out. But it didn't matter because I was wet anyway from when I got Charlie from James' car.

"You know whats weird," James said as he leaned on my car. He was talking loudly so he could be heard over the loud rain. "I've never liked one of Jake's girlfriends before now."
"Well I feel loved." I said with a small smile and he laughed slightly.
"You should. Can I ask you something?" James asked with a serious look on his face.
"Course you can."
"You said that you and Jake had a fight about you being out for so long. But was it because you were out so long...With me?" He asked carefully. I didn't want to say anything, I didn't know if how he was gonna react so I slowly nodded. "Oh. Im sorry."
"Its not your fault. Dont be sorry. Its just Jake being a jerk." I said quickly because I didn't like seeing him looking sad.
"What did he say to you?" James asked.
"He said Im not allowed to see you again and I told him he cant tell me what to do." I said.
"So I guess we're not gonna be walking our dogs together next Sunday?" He asked, sounding a little disappointed.
"Like I said, he cant tell me what to do." I said. "I cant wait 'til next Sunday." I smiled and so did he.
"Well I should probably get home. I was supposed to be having a video game night with the boys an hour ago." He said with a slight chuckle at the end.
"Well your a little late." I said with a slight laugh.
"Yeah I am." He said. He just stood there staring at me for a few seconds before he spoke again. "Im glad I met you."
"Im glad I met you too." I smiled.
"I'll see you later." He said and opened his arms for a hug which I happily accepted.

I pulled away slightly but I kept my arms around his neck and he kept his arms around my waist. I looked into his gorgeous hazel eyes and felt that same feeling I felt before. The racing heart, the butterflies in my stomach, the weak knees, the world slowing down.. I felt that all over again but this time my heart was beating faster and faster like it was running a marathon. The butterflies in my stomach multiplied and fluttered more and more. My knees were so weak that if my arms were around his neck, I would fall. The world didn't slow down. It stopped all together. Without even realizing it, I felt his lips on mine.
