"I can't believe he actually did it," Raven said as we looked over at Charles, who was trying to make a move on a blonde woman. "Can you find out what they're saying?" She asked, obviously growing impatient.

"Come on, Raven. Let him have his fun," I said as I brought my glass up to my lips. Raven huffed in response. "Fine. But this is the last time I'm doing it on this trip." Her eyes immediately lit up.

I reached into his mind and tried my best to catch up to their conversation. I could only hear two words.

Heterochromia. Amy.

Charles sent me an annoyed glare. He had sensed me inside his head. I smiled innocently at him and redirected my attention to Raven.

"Her name is Amy, and she has heterochromia," I said. She wasn't pleased with my answer.

"That's all you could get?" I rolled my eyes.

"Well, looking inside another telepath's head proves to be quite the challenge, Raven." She looked at me with pleading eyes.

"Come on, Lizzie. This whole trip has been so boring for me."

"I haven't exactly been out exploring. I've been with you the entire time. We could have gone out while Charlie was studying," I said as I reached into the bowl of peanuts on our table.

"I can't go out," She said. The hurt in her eyes was clear. "I don't fit in here. It's easy for you and Charles. You fit in here. You have the same accent. You look the way a human is expected to look. I have to hide." I placed my hand on top of hers.

"Hey, look at me." She reluctantly lifted her gaze. "I don't want to be here. This place brings back a lot of bad memories. And I have to hide too." I lifted the illusion around my eyes for a moment. The emerald green colour I had used as a cover disappeared and was replaced with the bright red eyes that had scared my parents away twelve years prior. I winked at her, causing her to laugh slightly, before bringing back the bright green colour.

"I'm sorry. I keep forgetting what happened to you here," She said. Her voice was laced with guilt.

"It's okay. It was a long time ago. I have a much better family now." I instinctively pulled at the sleeves of my sweater to hide my scars.

I had never told any of them what had happened. I never told anyone about the man that used to cut me to entertain himself. About the man that made me kill because he was too weak to do it himself. I didn't dare mention the explosion. Only Charles knew what I was capable of.

He promised he would never look inside my head. I was grateful for that. It wasn't because I couldn't keep him out. I could do that with ease. But we developed a bond through that promise.

"I'm gonna go crash their party," Raven said as she got up from her chair. "You wanna join me?"    I smiled as I got up from my chair and followed her. Raven walked right up to Charles and Amy.

"Hi. Guess I have to buy my own drink," she said as she looked at Charles with raised brows. Charles was completely oblivious to the annoyed tone in Raven's voice.

"I'm sorry. One Cola," He said to the bartender and then turned his attention back to Amy.

"Charles here was just telling me that I'm like one of the first sea creatures that grew legs," Amy said to Raven. I rolled my eyes.

"Tiny bit sexier," Charles said, which made Amy chuckle. "I'm sorry. These are my sisters. Raven and Elizabeth."

"Hi," Raven and I said simultaneously.
