I was getting cold as I sat in the crammed police station. My eyes could spill no tears no more. I had been sitting on a plain blue chair in the corner of the room for 3 hours. The draft from outside was becoming more and more noticeable and tiredness began to suffocate me to sleep.
I had given my statement but with no parent they were sorting out what to do with me. Miss Lockwood was a council therapist or something and had come and talked some bullshit to me about how everything was going to be ok. I appreciated it though.
The sounds of drunk people in the holding cell drove me up the walls. I just wanted to go anywhere but here. It stunk like beer and piss and I was board.
A police officer walked over to me. She had straight blonde hair and honey brown eyes. Her face read a sympathetic look as she hobbled over in her ridiculous heals. "Hello miss Bolton" she greeted me as friendly as she could. Nothing. I said nothing back to her. I felt rude but my mouth had no energy to open.
"We have found some family of yours that are willing to take you in. You want to hear about it?"
Family I don't have any other family unless my dad. I never realy knew anything about him. Mum didn't like to talk about it so I didn't ask."Yes" I managed to spit out with my croaky voice. The lady smiled at me flipping her note book. Her eyes scanned her pages. "It looks like you have S-seven brothers up near New York" she seemed as surprised as me.
Brothers I didn't have brothers. This must be a mistake " I think you have a mistake miss" I questioned her. Checking again she told me "nope it says right here 7 Russo brothers."
WHAT omg this is just wow. Seven brothers oh dear god help me. I didn't know how to feel happy, sad, scared. This was all so new.
"Now you will be placed in a orphanage for the night then catch a plane tommorow is that ok miss?" I was to surprised to think straight so I just nodded numbly.
"Well sorry for your loss bye" she hobbled of trying to look facy but just end up hurting her poor old ankles as she toppled over smudging her bright red lipstick. I couldn't help but to giggled under my breath.
Miss Lockwood came back. She was old very old like a dinosaur. Her wrinkly face made her look almost alien but she was kind. She lead me to a taxi and we both climbed in. She explained to me that she was my council worker and was going to take me to the building I would be staying at.
The night was alive now as people crept into there beds to begin the day again and all I could think was how mum and Jack would never get to do that again. Tears began to trickle as I watch the rain dance down the window.
We reached it. My home for the night. It was a big old house. It stood made out of a yellow sand brick with pillers at the door. Miss Lockwood lead me in and down a long corridor till we reached a door.
717 this was my room for the night. Miss Lockwood left me to settle in and would pick me up tommorow at 10 sharp.
The door was heavy thick wood pushing back as I forced it open. Inside was a metal bed with a mattress as thin as paper and bars on the window it was thin and plain like a cell. It had a small night stand to put clothes in though I hadn't had chance to pack yet. Miss said I would tommorow.
21:00 flashed in red on the alarm clock next to my bed. I tried to sleep but my entire stomach would not shut up. I was warned not to leave my room at night but I was hungry and thought I would exploor.
The corridor had a blue patterned carpet running along it and lights coved in fly's evey so often. Other than that nothing. It was plain. I tried my best not to make noise as I followed my gut to where the food was. They do say your noes knows the way.
It had been 5 min of me walking no stop when I came across my first new person. A girl she look like 11 or 12 and realy skinny. Her face was as white as snow part from the bruises on her face and legs. She had white hair and wore a loose light blue night down.
I walked past her silently carefully not to stare and that was enough human interaction for me. I walked back to my room as fast as possible and collapsed on the mattress immediately. It had been a long day and I needed some peace. My eye lids fell and a new day began.
Sunlight shined through the window waking me up for the day to come. I chucked ok my jeans and hoodie from the day before still slightly stained in blood but it was all I had. 9:50 the clook read. Miss would be here soon so I headed my way to the door to leave this ood place.
I never realy thought about me moving no more Miss Brelling, a fresh start sounded good till i realized I had to be the new girl. I have been cursed.
The old lady picked me up and dropped me of at my old apartment. I took my time walking up the dirty stairs that i had fallen down so many times. For the last time. Till I reached my door I slowly opened it and there stood my former home.
I wanded through reliving memories. The floor was clean now but a forever red stain layed there like a tattoo of my past.
I headed to my room and packed my clothes and bits and bobs in a rucksack. I didn't have mutch. Then again I didn't need much. Lastly I headed into my mom's room to grab some pictures and a few of her clothes and belongings to keep and that was it my old life over and a new chapter ready to begin.
