"And who the fuck are you?" I glare at the two boys. Now that I am not trying to tackle them, I finally get to see what they truly look like. They both look to be around my age or a little bit older. But I can't really remember when I last thought of my birthday. All I know is I have been out of Battery City for almost two years. I zoom out of my thoughts and back to studying these strangers. The on the left is the one of most interest. He is tall and skinny but also has a bit of muscle on him. His jet black hair falls in small waves to his shoulders. His chest is covered by a faded dark blue band shirt and a black leather jacket. He wears faded dark jeans that show wear through holes and scuff marks. He wears the Killjoy trademark combat boots.
"Why do you need to know?" The boy who I have just previously descirbed speaks. I take a step closer to him. I pull out my ray gun and push the barrel into his chest, just above the heart.
"You crossed into my territory and tried to kidnap one of my Killjoys. And if I thought you two were just a bunch of rogue Killjoys, you would be ghosted outside in the sun." I growl. Up close, I can see more of the features of this boy. A perfectly shaped face stays in a poker face. His nose is slightly crooked from some fight. But his eyes hold my glare. The ice blue irises speak of leadership and determination. They also show of years out in the California desert. But it is hard to read his expression under the blue mask.
He only stays silent. I turn to the other man. He wears signature crazy clothes. His broad chest is covered by a yellow scribble shirt and a green leather jacket. He wears a pair of very dark, almost black, jeans. Instead of combat boots, he wears a pair of red Converses. His mask is a full face mask with a red base, a black poker face, and a white "X" over one of his eyes. His spiked hair is dyed electric blue which match the electricty of his green eyes.
"Who are you?' I ask in a more calm tone. They boy holds his leg where I shot him. His head is slightly bent downwards. He slowly moves. His hand leaves his leg and hesitantly goes for his mask. He gently removes the protection from his face and looks at me full in the eye.
I am caught off guard. I never thought I would see him again. I thought when he left he would be gone forever. I also thought he when to work in Battery City.
"How? What? When? How? Why?" My breath is taken out of my lungs. "What the-" I throw my arms around his neck. He almost falls backwards but recovers in time. He takes a sharp breath. I pull away and look at him. "How the fuck-"
He stays silent. Devil at my side looks at me with utter confusion.
"Who the fuck is he?"
"I'm-"
"He's my brother." It feels weird saying that. In the zones, every Killjoy is like a brother or sister, all fighting for one cause. But to actually mean it is just weird. "He's my brother." I look at Devil and her face is covered in shock.
"I thought you were an only child!" She yells at me. It shocks me that that is how she takes this.
"Well it would have been damn hard to tell my Killjoy friend that I had a brother that worked for Better Living Industries!" I yell back. Something about this just triggers a small flame of anger.
"But you didn't even tell me!" Her voice is full of anger.
"You wouldn't understand." I can't stop myself now. "What would you do if you were in my shoes? This whole time I have been fighting BLI, I have been worrying that one day I might actually shoot my brother! Did you ever wonder why I always shoot for the non-fatal areas then rip the mask off? I have been living in fear for however long it has been." I bet my face is blood red. I can feel my blood boiling.
"How can I when you build up an armour that no one can break? This whole time I have been trying to see what you are like without it, you just make it harder!" She stands up to me and glares at me. We may be the same height but it is hard not to feel below her at some points.
