I was growing numb to the never ending attention at school that came from being River's girlfriend. With our relationship going public, the friendship with Aiden, Trevor, and Melanie was more public also. Trevor and Melanie weren't afraid to show their affections either. Aiden, Trevor, and Melanie were also getting secondhand popularity from River. It was kind of amazing how far his influence could reach.

After my dad's book release, pictures of River and I at the signing and release party started floating around social media somehow. Many keyboard warriors did research and found out that Richard Lee was my father that way. I didn't intentionally hide the fact, I just didn't normally volunteer the information. In my opinion, it didn't matter.

However, after this news started spreading around school, I got more attention all over again. People were even less apprehensive about my relationship with River. In the eyes of others, being Richard Lee's daughter made me more worthy of River somehow. I couldn't see why it would matter or why it was anyone else's business in the first place, but at least the weird rumors about me stopped. Even though we were public, common knowledge now, we still technically only existed in our own little bubble. Home life was pretty steady. With Mia and River, I never had to worry about being alone at home. I didn't even realize how much it bothered me until they showed up. Mia seemed to be growing up right before my eyes. She was getting taller and heavier. She was starting to articulate her words better as well.

Luckily, River didn't have to fight for a while because of the huge purse from the last fight and the fact that they were barely using their own house. It was getting more and more noticeable that the house wasn't being used. Except for mowing the grass every other week, River had already moved all of his clothing and essentials to our house. It was starting to just be an extra expense, and graduation was right around the corner. We were in the scholarship scramble period. We were sitting, eating dinner with my dad when I decided to bring it up.

"What do you plan on doing with the house over there when you go to college?" I asked.

"Well, I can sell it legally when I am 18 years old, so a month before graduating, I want to try and sell the house. Especially if Mia is going to be here. It'll also help with book and tuition and whatever Mia might need, but I can't legally sell it right now," River explained. It made sense. He wasn't even living over there now.

"Have you thought about renting it out to earn money. Real estate is a booming business and you already have a property," my dad jumped in.

"But the owner is responsible for maintaining the house and fixing any maintenance issues that come up. I may not have the time to come back and look at everything, especially if I go pre-med," River answered.

"Well, I'll be right here. All I do is write. I have plenty of free time. And I admit, I'm not handy, but I can call the proper people," my dad offered.

"Wouldn't that be too much of a hassle for you? You've already offered to watch Mia while I'm at college which is a huge help," River said hesitantly. My dad smiled at him.

"River, you and Mia are part of our family, and we take care of our family. Don't you think it's time you start leaning on us to help you? I know you're used to doing things by yourself, but you're still only a teenager. You and Lulu are similar that way. You try to act like adults and do everything yourselves even though someone is willing to help you. Let the adult in your life help you. I'm here to help now, but I won't always be here later down the road. For now, as the adult, it's my responsibility to take care of the kids in my life," my dad said. River nodded.

"Real estate is a good idea, but I just worry about the maintenance," River stressed. My dad shrugged him off.

"It's a small matter, but we can talk about it more closer to the time," my dad dismissed it. We didn't talk about it again for a while. Before I knew it, Spring Break was upon us. With nothing really to do, River and I spent a lot of our time lounging at the house with Mia. I also took advantage of the time to write more. I even posted the first ten chapters. To my surprise, they were actually well received. The chapters were actually getting good reviews for once. The pacing was great; not too fast, not too slow, and people were eating it up. My romance writing was definitely getting much better. Things were going well, that was until midday one day during Spring Break when I noticed someone knocking on the door across the street. I normally would've igmored it, but they were knocking on River's door and she didn't look like a delivery driver.

"Someone is across the street," I said as I plopped down next to River on the couch. He looked confused before getting up and going to check it out. I expected him to come back quickly dismissing it as someone at the wrong house, what I wasn't expecting was him to come back after twenty minutes past with a huge smile on his face. The girl came in behind him. She was pretty with long dyed blonde hair, ivory skin, and clear blue eyes. She had a heart shaped face, dimples, perfectly straight white teeth. She was wearing name brand clothes even though they were meant to look casual. She could've easily been a model. I suddenly felt inferior to her in my sweats and oversized tee shirt with my glasses and hair in a messy bun. Mia didn't move from my lap as she eyed the girl as well. River motioned to her as she took a step forward.

"Lu, I want to introduce you to someone. This is Kata," River introduced us.
