An Attempt pt. 4

Kat had gone back home to Ray a few days later only to have a horribly uncomfortable conversation pertaining to her sexuality. Needless to say there was hours of arguing and Kat was completely exhausted. She didn't want to be there after the hurtful things that had been said to her. She just wanted to pack her belongings, grab Bernie, and crawl in Dom's bed. She also knew that wasn't exactly the best idea. Stuck in her own thoughts as she packed her things, her heart was breaking. She loved this man and despised that she hurt him but he wasn't exactly innocent either. Neither had been happy just going through the motions for almost a year. She suspected he had cheated on her at least once. The spark was gone. Ray had stormed out after screaming at her. She had no idea where he went. So she done the only thing she could, gather herself and load the car. Double checking the closet one final time she shut the light off. Bernies toys, vet records, food, crate, and his bed were packed. She grabbed his leash as she took the house key off her lanyard smiling briefly observing Dom's key still securely attached. She also left her wedding ring.

Deep in her heart she knew it was the right thing to do but it still hurt like hell. She called her mom crying essentially having word vomit about her emotions and the love she had for a woman she just couldn't shake no matter how hard she tried. The longing was always there. The distance never mattered. Neither did the missed phone calls at times when Dom was attempting to put some space between them. At the end of the day Dom was who she wanted to fall asleep next too. She had several times on set and in her trailer. It was the most uncomfortable yet blissful sleep she had ever gotten.

She put Bernie in his crate securing it. Taking the drivers seat she left everything she had built behind driving to the woman she loved crying momentarily along the way. It was raining pulling her back to one particular memory. The weather reminded her off when a severe thunderstorm came through soon turning into a tornado warning. In knocked the electric out on set that night so everyone had to stay inside. Due to safety concerns no one was allowed to stay in their trailers. Dominique was startled by a loud blast of thunder causing her to jump grabbing Katherine.

"It's ok baby I got you."
Kat wrapped her arms around the smaller brunette as the lightening blinded them.

"I've never seen it storm this badly here. We might as well get comfortable the power is probably going to be out for a bit. At least my sheriff can protect me."
She said holding the collar of Nicole's uniform.

"I'll always protect you. You're shaking are you cold?"
Kat asked moving her hands up and down Dom's arms trying to warm her.

"I'm always cold."
She responded in their own quite private conversation.

"Hang on. I'll be right back. Thankfully we're at the homestead so I'll grab a blanket from upstairs."

"Actually we could just go lay down up there nobody is going to notice. I'm completely drained. I know you have to be as well. Hell they can't even see in here. Lead the way love."
Dom laughed as the exhaustion from shooting for 15hrs was getting to them.

"Good point, here take my hand."
Dom followed the tall redhead through the darkness into bed snuggling up next to her she pulled the covers up over them. Kat was shocked Dom wasn't laying on her but the next loud crack of thunder fixed that as she leaped back into her arms with a squeal.

"Shit! That scared me I'm so sorry."

"Don't be. I like it better when you're laying on me than beside me."
Dom relaxed resting her head on Kat's chest as she felt a protective arm pull her closer.

"Are you sure? I don't want to make you uncomfortable. Storm is just really bad."

"It would make me more uncomfortable if you weren't laying like this."
