What if.. (Luke Hemmings)

Chapter 1

The weather was perfect that day. Even though I didn't like hot days like that, the sun made me feel ambitious and confident. It was the day the results of the 5 Seconds Of Summer competition were coming out. There would be four winners who would get to spend a day with a member of the band.

I couldn't even imagine spending a whole day with Luke, Michael, Calum or Ashton. They were famous and I thought it would be impossible even meeting them. I was SO excited about it I felt like I would explode.

It was Sunday and I had just arrived home from my part-time job. I took a shower and I grabbed my phone. I called my best friend, Laura, who was a huge fan of the boys as well. We could understand the way each other felt easily.

"Where are you?", I asked when she picked it up.
"Home. Where are you?", she answered.
"I'm coming over!", I said and hang up.

I run downstairs and exited the house.
"Mom, I'm going to Laura's", I said.
"Okay, honey. Will you come back for lunch?", she asked me.
"I don't know. We'll see."
"Okay, text me.", she said.

I arrived at Laura's house really fast since we lived close and I rang the bell. Her mother opened instantly. I greeted her before rushing upstairs.
"What are you doing?", I asked Laura.
"I'm waiting! Come here.", she said showing me the spot on the bed near her.

I jumped on the bed and we started thinking of perfect scenarios. A thing we've done uncountable times.
"I'd go wherever Luke wanted to go. I wouldn't mind at all.", I stated.
"I'd like to take a walk on the beach with Calum.", she said.
I wished Luke didn't want to go to the beach.

I've always preferred winter over summer and one of the reasons why was that I didn't feel comfortable with my body. Even though, I knew a bunch of boys had a crush on me, I still couldn't understand what exactly they liked on me. I thought my belly was big and my arms and legs were fat. My family had been saying that my body is beautiful and my two older brothers, Elias and Chris, really liked it. Whenever I asked Laura if I had gotten thinner she answered:
"You were already thin, I see no difference."

"What are you thinking?", I asked Laura. She looked concerned.
"I don't think we're going to win.", she answered.
"It's impossible, I know. But, at least we tried.", I tried to cheer her up.

Blink! Ding!
Our phones ringing meant that the results were out. The names of the winners would be announced on Twitter and we had turned the notifications on. We grabbed our phones and counted to three before checking them at the same time.

"@5SOS
Sooo the competition is over and here are the winners!". There was a list with the names of the boys and the usernames of the fans who won.

OMG
"OH MY GOD, I won!", I heard Laura screaming but I already knew it.
"Oh my GOD, congrats!", I shouted as we got off the bed and started jumping excitedly around her room.
Suddenly Laura stopped cheering and started whispering to herself.
"Calm down, you idiot.", I said to her and grabbed her wrists. She was trembling.

Blink! Blink!
"Michael5SOS is now following you. Michael5SOS: hi there", Laura read.
The moment we realized that Michael Clifford has just DMed her we started screaming and jumping around like drunk bunnies.
"We should stop this because Michael Clifford is fucking waiting for your answer.", I said and tried to control myself.

"Hellooo", Laura typed and Michael answered in an instant.
"So you're my date for Saturday morning. Actually for the whole Saturday:)"
Laura asked me what to answer but my mind was blank. It was too much. It felt like a dream and I was afraid I would wake up and get depressed.
"Hey, are you there?", another text from Michael made me realize that this was real.

"Yeah, sorry", Laura typed. "I just can't believe this is actually happening, you know?"
"Haha, of course you can't, I'm Michael Clifford. JK, lol. Anyways, where do you wanna meet?", he asked her.

After a few texts they agreed on him coming to pick her up by her house. Laura looked at me and we started screaming and laughing again while going to the kitchen to have a snack or something.

We started making future plans in case Laura got to meet the other guys and ended up in a relationship with one of them.
"Yeah, and then you'll introduce me to Luke and he'll fall for me and we'll end up married.", I said and we burst out laughing. Even if Luke got to know me I don't think he'd like me.

"You know, that's actually possible.", Laura said.
"You know it's not.", I replied.
"We're closer to achieving it than we'll ever be.", she stated.
"But, there are so many girls who are so much better than me.", I thought but I didn't say it.

"My mom will be waiting.", I said instead. "I'm leaving. We'll talk tomorrow about the outfit you're wearing on Saturday."
"K, bye!", she said.
I exited the house and started walking slowly. Tears of joy started flowing down my cheeks as I knew what she said was true.

We were closer to achieving it than we'd ever be.
