John's POV
It's been a week since my last encounter with Sid, yet his words linger like an unwelcome guest in my mind. Despite my efforts to maintain an "I don't care" attitude, his words continue to haunt me. Today holds a critical meeting with Louis Corporation, a deal I've spent the past month preparing for. It's pivotal for my company's success, so meticulous preparation is essential. However, a sleepless night has left me running behind schedule this morning, forcing me to forgo breakfast in favor of grabbing something on the go from a nearby café.
"Chris, pull over at the nearest café," I instruct my driver. Chris has been by my side for six years now, a loyal companion and bodyguard.
"We've arrived, Sir," he confirms as I step out of the car and enter the café. The place is relatively empty, allowing me to find a table quickly and dive into my emails. My focus is abruptly broken by a soft, melodious voice.
"What would you like to order, Sir?" Her voice is delicate, almost enchanting, but I refuse to let it sway me. Without sparing her a glance, I place my order for pancakes and an Americano, burying myself back into work.
"Anything else, Sir?" she asks again, her voice like a siren's song, tempting me to look up. I resist, reminding myself of the control I've honed over the years.
"No," I reply curtly, perhaps too sharply, relishing in the slight flinch her reaction betrays. I've always preferred to inspire fear than to have my own heart laid bare.
"O-Okay, Sir," she stammers, and I find a strange satisfaction in her discomfort.
At last, curiosity compels me to steal a glance in her direction. But the moment my eyes meet hers, I'm captivated. Time seems to stand still as I'm drawn into her gaze, the intensity of her blue eyes piercing through me. My resolve wavers as I struggle to tear my gaze away, realizing with a jolt that I've lost control.
As she walks away, my eyes follow her every move. It's a sensation unfamiliar to me, this overwhelming attraction. I'm shaken by the realization that she's stirred something within me, something I've never experienced before.
When she returns with my order, I find myself at a loss for words, silently admiring her beauty. It's a beauty that's impossible to deny, and for the first time in my life, I acknowledge it.
"Enjoy your breakfast, Sir" she says softly, bowing before leaving the table. I'm left feeling strangely empty as I finish my meal, her presence lingering in my thoughts long after I've left the café.
The meeting with Louis Corporation proves successful, despite her occupying my mind throughout. Yet, even as we close the deal, I can't shake the feeling of unrest she's stirred within me. I find myself hoping I'll never see her again, for she's turned my carefully controlled life into chaos without even trying.
As I head back to my company, I can't shake the feeling that my sleepless nights are just beginning.
How's this chapter? Hope to see more sleepless nights of our ruthless billionaire???
