Jinnie's POV:
Just finished my shift at the café, and now I'm off to my second job as a babysitter for Mr. Tom's son, Jerry. Jerry, all of three years old, is a real delight. The Tom family is blessed with such an adorable child. It all started a few weeks back when Mr. Tom visited our café, struggling to manage a grumpy Jerry. Despite Jerry's usual fussiness around strangers, he surprisingly took a liking to me, easing Mrs. Tom's burden. She offered me a babysitting gig on the spot, with a generous salary. Needless to say, I accepted, and I'm glad I did.
Mr. Tom holds considerable influence in town, so they spare no expense when it comes to Jerry's happiness, including my compensation.
Since I left the café early, I decided to visit my mom at the hospital. It's been my routine ever since her diagnosis. Alongside three jobs, I also juggle university studies, barely getting 2-3 hours of sleep a day. But seeing my mom's smile makes it all worthwhile.
As I walk through the hospital corridors, the smell of medication assaults my senses, a scent I've grown to despise. Despite the sea of worried faces, I put on a brave front for my mom; I must be her pillar of strength.
Entering her room, I'm greeted by her radiant smile, mirroring my own.
"My dear, I was waiting for you. How was work? Are you tired? Have you eaten? What's your next job?" Her questions come in a flurry, her concern for me touching.
"Take it easy, Mom. I'm fine, had food, not tired. Off to Jerry's next," I reassure her.
"I know you're tired, darling. It's all because of me you're working so hard, when you should be enjoying university," she frets, blaming herself as always.
"No, Mom, it's not your fault. You're everything to me. Without you, what's the point of a degree?" I assure her, not wanting her to carry unnecessary guilt.
After our little emotional exchange, we slip into our usual banter, her infectious laughter filling the room. Seeing her happy is all that matters to me.
Upon my arrival, Jerry greeted me with uncontainable excitement, his eyes sparkling with anticipation.
"Guess what, Jinnie? Uncle Handsome is coming over today!" he exclaimed, his words accompanied by a flurry of animated gestures.
My curiosity piqued at the mention of "Uncle Handsome." I had heard Jerry speak of him before, always with a sense of awe and admiration. According to Jerry, Uncle Handsome was the epitome of charm and charisma, a figure of reverence in his young eyes. Despite his glowing descriptions, I had yet to meet this mysterious uncle, leaving me intrigued by the prospect of finally encountering him in person.
With Jerry's anticipation fueling my own curiosity, I couldn't help but wonder what kind of person "Uncle Handsome" truly was. What stories would he share? What adventures had he embarked on? And most importantly, what was the connection between this enigmatic figure and the lively household I had come to cherish as my own sanctuary?
As I entered the Tom residence, excitement and curiosity danced in my heart, eager to unravel the mystery surrounding Jerry's beloved "Uncle Handsome."
"Uncle Handsome"... "Mr. Greek God"... Why are thoughts of him suddenly flooding my mind? Oh, Jinnie, forget about him. He's just a stranger, and way out of your league.
How was this chapter? So our Jinnie is still interested in our Mr. Greek God huh?
