Jinnie's POV:
My life revolves around the café, a constant grind to support my mother and myself. She's everything to me, and her battle with heart disease weighs heavily on my mind. We have only two months to arrange the funds for her transplant; otherwise, I risk losing the only family I have left. The thought of a life without her is unbearable. That's why I juggle three jobs, hoping to earn enough for her treatment.
Claire, my confidante, interrupts my thoughts, redirecting my attention to my duties. I shake off the weight of my worries, plastering on a smile as I approach Table no: 7, where a man engrossed in his work awaits.
As I draw closer, I observe his meticulous focus, seemingly oblivious to his surroundings. I remind myself that even busy professionals need sustenance, pushing aside my initial judgment. With a professional demeanor, I take his order, his voice sending a strange shiver down my spine.
"Pancakes and Americano," he orders briskly, his tone sharp. I flinch at the abruptness, my composure faltering for a moment.
"O-Okay, Sir," I manage, feeling off-balance as I retreat to the kitchen to fulfill his order. Claire notices my disconcerted state, inquiring about the cause. I recount my interaction with the man I've dubbed "Mr. Greek God," his striking appearance leaving an unexpected impact on me.
Yet, even as I chide myself for my reaction, Claire insists I deliver his breakfast. With a tray in hand, I return to his table, finding him watching me this time. I quickly dismiss the notion, attributing his gaze to hunger rather than any personal interest.
I serve his meal with practiced politeness, bidding him to enjoy before hurrying away. Despite my attempts to ignore it, I sense his eyes following me, stirring a disconcerting mix of emotions within me.
Back in the kitchen, I find solace in routine tasks, seeking to bury my swirling thoughts. But as I clean the tables, my traitorous eyes scan the room, inexplicably searching for his presence.
Frustrated by my own distraction, I step outside for fresh air, a desperate attempt to regain focus. My mother's image floods my mind, a stark reminder of my true priorities. I wipe away unbidden tears, urging myself to stay strong for her sake. My resolve strengthened, I return to my duties, determined to push aside any distractions and focus on what truly matters: my mother's well-being.
