CHAPTER 10 : THE PLAN

It was the weekend now. Nishikata was in his room. He was laying on his bed ; bored, to be exact. None of his friends were free at the moment so he didn't have anything to do. Even Yuri wasn't free. She was out with her parents, maybe like a family trip or something and would be back in a couple of a days.

Anyhow, Nishikata was bored to death. So he decided to check his phone. And while he was doing so, he received a text. It was from Takagi.

It had been a while since he unblocked her on his phone, due to them being back to friends. Seeing the text, Nishikata became a bit curious :
" Takagi san....? What does she want from me at this hour....? " He then read the text, which said : " Hey Nishikata. How are you? Hope you're doing fine. Well, the reason for me to text you now is.... as you know, I'm a bit behind the class right now and um.... Well, I've some doubts here and there and seems like it's pretty much out of my hands... So... I was wondering if you could come over and help me out a bit.... You think you could do that....? You're my only friend... I've no one else to turn to.... Please....? "

Though he was a bit confused at first as to why Takagi would need any help from him of all people, and that too, on studies, he decided to not overthink it since he clearly understood her situation, considering the kind of shit she's been going through for the past few months. Although, he still didn't get why she'd ask his help in studies, considering he himself isn't any better when it comes to that. But there was nothing much to think really, since apparently, he was her only friend. So obviously, it would be him who she'd turn to for help. He then looked back at his phone and replied : " Okay, I'll be there by 5:00 pm. Sound good? "

Soon came Takagi's reply : " Yes! That'd be great! Thank you so much, Nishikata!!! I'll be waiting... " Although, seeing such a fast response from Takagi, Nishikata couldn't let go of the thought that she was upto something. But he just shrugged at the thought and decided to go and help his friend.

He then changed his clothes and prepared to go to her house. His mom was there. So before leaving, he turned to her and said : " Mom, I'm going to a friend's house. I'll be back before dinner. " Hearing this, his mom turned to look back at him and replied with a smile : " Oh, it's okay if you a stay a bit longer. Infact, I don't mind you staying there for the night too... "

As soon as he heard it, Nishikata became a bit confused. He couldn't tell if she was being serious or sarcastic. He then thought to himself as he looked at his mom smiling at him : " Eh....? What the hell...? Is she mocking me or something...? As far as I know, mom would never say something like that... Hm... Something is definitely going on.... Anyway... " He then let go of his thoughts and replied as he looked back at her : " Uh... Y-Yeah... Thanks, I guess.... A-Anyway..., I'm gonna head out now.... It's uh.... getting late.... Okay now.... Bye... "

That being said, he started making his way outta the front door, with his mom waving at him with a sweet smile. Just as he was about to step out of his house, he could hear some noises coming from the TV in the living room, which his mom was probably watching at the moment. The channel that was on, was of the weather forecast ; he could make out that much. But since he was short on time, he chose to ignore it and keep moving. It was already 4:30 pm. Right as he made his way outta the door, he could hear his mom shouting to him from the living room : " You might wanna make it there quick. There's a big- " But he couldn't make it out entirely since he was already far enough from his house. But he took it for something that was not that important and just chose to continue forward. And of course, he wouldn't go back just to hear what she had to say, not because he didn't care, but he was just too lazy. Relatable.

Now he was pretty far from his home. And that was when he took notice of the black clouds up in the sky. He then thought to himself as he looked at the rather unpleasant clouds : " Huh.... Seems like it's gonna rain pretty soon.... And by the looks of it.... It's gonna be pretty harsh.... Should I go back and grab an umbrella, maybe....? Nah, I'm way too lazy for shit like that. It's way too far and I'm already past the point of doing something as tiresome as that.... Okay, it might just start raining any moment now and when it does, I'll be f*cked.... If I make a run for it, I might be able to make it at time...!! Alright then.... Here I go...!!! "
And with that, he started running towards her home as fast as he could. But halfway through his journey, it started raining out of nowhere. Nishikata thought to himself as he started getting wet all over his body :
