10 Days to Prom

The First Kiss

"Welcome home, Ro.", Chris said, opening the door.

Chris saw a boy, about a few inches shorter than Rohan standing coyly behind him and said to him, "Please come in."

Rohan pulled Mike inside through the door, took him to the couch and pointed that to Mike asking him to sit and called, "Mom!! He is here."

Chris said, " Ro, he isn't sitting."

Rohan turned back to see Mike still standing. "Yo, relax. You can sit.", Rohan said.

Mike was about to sit when he heard footsteps from outside the sitting room. He stood up straight and saw a short lady with glasses who seemed very strict and serious and another pretty lady with average height, enter the sitting room.

The lady with glasses said, "So you are chubby Micky. I am Rohan's mom. Nice to meet you.", and shook hands with Mike.

Mike's ears turned hot again and scolded himself for agreeing to visit Rohan's house just after the day he was asked out. Rohan now literally pushed Mike down to make him sit on the couch. Chris was already seated and was busy observing Mike, which made Mike more nervous. Soon Elena and two tall good looking men arrived as well.

"So Mike, that's auntie Lily next to mom, they are uncle Dan and uncle Neil. And Chris and Elena are uncles' twin kids, my cousins.", Rohan said.

Mike stood up and bowed to them saying, "Nice to meet you too."

Rohan's mom and her three friends looked at each other after the ultra-formal self  introduction of Mike. Elena broke the silence saying, "How can I lose to him? Dad you said Rohan will marry me...!

Rohan said, "Eli, please. Don't.", controlling himself at this sudden unwanted information.

"It was not nice meeting you! Hmph!!", Elena said with a head jerk, and left the sitting room. The rest of them started laughing at this action and Mike and Rohan joined them.

Mike felt relieved after knowing that Elena's wish to marry Rohan was a usual thing since she was 5 years old. After talking about family and other things with Mike, Rohan was told to show him around the house. Before they left, Rohan's mom pulled Mike close and said, "If he makes you cry, you tell me first, without hesitating. Okay?"

Mike stifled his smile and said his usual almost inaudible 'okay'. To which Rohan got irritated and dragged Mike along with him. "We won't go upstairs for now...have fun!", uncle Neil shouted behind them. Rohan felt Mike's hand tremble a bit, so he stopped walking and looked back at Mike. Mike was looking down at the floor. Rohan held out his hands to hold Mike's shoulders and then shook him hard. Mike looked up at Rohan, flustered, as if he just returned from his reverie.

"You okay, Micky?", Rohan asked.

Mike felt happy when Rohan called him Micky. He smiled to himself, but he said, in a low voice, "No, I am not."

Rohan stupefied and alarmed at the same time, still held Mike with one hand, started looking for something while saying, "What? Why? What's wrong? What is it? Are you not feeling well? Tell me. Don't faint. Don't faint. I'll bring water. Wait-"

Mike surprised at this action and seeing him panic, suddenly started giggling. Rohan stopped talking and looked at him.

"I am fine, stop it! I didn't mean that way, you are being silly. How do expect me to be functioning smoothly, when I am at my favourite person's place?", Mike said, still giggling.

Rohan heaved a sigh of relief and scratched his head. "You really made my blood pressure go high for a moment. What do you expect me to do? I am the one who actually asked you out!", Rohan said and started walking.

Mike smiled again and said, "So now we are even then."

"So we are!", Rohan replied.

After finishing the house tour, both of them entered Rohan's room. Mike chose to sit on the study table chair. Rohan excused himself for a minute to get changed into fresh clothes, came back clad in a t-shirt with small elephant heads printed on it and plain grey sweatpants, and jumped into his bed.

"Mom doesn't let me get on the bed with outside clothes.", Rohan said.

Mike nodded, realising that he did a good job not choosing to sit on the bed.

"This is a big house!", Mike stated, nothing else to say.

"This is the second house they bought together after Chris and Elena were born. The house before this had 4 rooms and wasn't enough for them their kids and two dogs. Mom decided they buy this one for us to grow up in a bigger space and in the greenery.", Rohan said, playing with his phone.

"Born..?", Mike asked.

"Surrogacy. Auntie Lily is their surrogate mother. She also donated her egg. Uncle Neil wanted their own children so they gave their sperms. Total usage of science! It happened after mom adopted me. A very chaotic life!", Rohan said and laughed.

"Woah!", Mike said, processing all the information.

"But enough about me and my family. We have something else to talk about.", Rohan said, shifting forward on the bed, to come closer to Mike.

"Umm...what?", Mike stuttered at the sudden change of topic.

"About us.", Rohan said staring at Mike.

"What about it? We will just go to prom on 14th and that's it.", Mike said and looked away, pretending to see the posters on the walls.

"That's it?", Rohan asked and got down from the bed, came and stood in front of Mike, "Are you sure? Do you not want to date me?"

"Of course I do!!", Mike said aloud, but immediately went shy and said softly, "But you don't like boys..."

"I don't have to be gay to go out with you! If I like you that's enough...I don't care about liking other men.", Rohan said and kneeled in front of Mike to see his face.

"But you are going to prom with me just out of pity.... Because I didn't have a date...", Mike said, almost tearing up.

"Would you have gone to prom if it were someone else?", Rohan asked.

Mike looked up at Rohan and said an inaudible 'no'.

Rohan smirked at Mike after their eyes met. Mike's eyes were teary. Rohan brought his face closer to Mike's and pressed his lips on Mike's lips.

Mike trembled like a paper fluttering in wind. Rohan placed his hand on Mike's neck and started kissing him. Mike moaned and started kissing him back. Soon both of them forgot about their surroundings. A few seconds later Mike pushed Rohan away when he heard a knock on the door.

"Come in!", Rohan managed to say out loud, while running to the door.

Mike wiped his tears in a hurry.

"I bought you snacks.", Rohan's mom said from outside the door.

"And I said come in.", Rohan replied opening the door.

"How am I supposed to open the door with this tray in my hand?", she said making an innocent face.

To Rohan's amazement, Mike started giggling.
