3rd Person POV

As soon as Bucky opened his eyes, he wanted to close them again. Looking at the time and deciding no one else would be awake, he began stalking his way to the kitchen. Shuffling his final steps, he wiped the tears in his eyes away. Passing the dining table he walked to a locked cabinet. Natashas cabinet. Picking the lock and finding her vodka, he grabbed the whole bottle and scurried back to his room. Reading that it was 3am, he began drowning his sorrows in the bitter drink. Natasha always had the strongest and most expensive alcohol.

After a few swigs at his drink, he broke down. He started remembering everything. He couldn't stop shaking and shivering. He couldn't rid the feeling he was falling and what horrific acts he performed after that. It's been 80 years since the fall. Exactly 80 years. 80 years of being a monster. 80 years of being the most feared man alive. Passing out shortly after due to exhaustion from the crying, he entered back into his mind would make him re-live his worst experiences.

Unknown to him, no less than 15 minutes later, 2 doors down the hall, Steve woke up gasping and sobbing. 80 years ago today he couldn't save his best friend. He was the reason his friend was tortured for decades. He wasn't strong enough for Bucky, he wasn't strong enough for Peggy. What if he wasn't strong enough for Nat or Sam when the time came? Loudly stopping in complete discontent, he went straight for Nat's cabinet. Immediately noticing the missing vodka, he checked tables to make sure it wasn't left out. It wasn't. Nat was getting back later today from a mission, so she definitely didn't have it and Sam couldn't drink anything so strong.

Despite knowing neither him or Buck could get drunk, he knocked lightly. Not getting a response he started walking away. His mind immediately reminded him of what day it was, Steve jogged back down the hall and opened Bucky's door. The sight in front of him broke his heart almost as much as watching Bucky fall off the train again. There was Bucky, lying on the floor, shivering, with at least 4 blankets covering him. Bucky was curled up in a ball clutching a half full bottle of vodka.

Steve, immediately breaking out of his shock, raced to Bucky, knowing this day was just as much if not more painful for him. Shaking him awake, they both cried together until sunrise.

At 5am sharp, Sam woke up and went to go get Steve for a run. He waltzed up to Steve's door and knocked. Getting no response, he frowned. Checking his phone to check the time to make sure he was right on normal time, he noticed the date and immediately understood. Flicking a text to Natasha who would be home at mid day, he went on a short run. When Sam returned home, he was determined to make this day as best he could for the too pained soldiers.

Putting on some calm music, he started making chocolate chip pancakes and 2 coffees. When he'd finished, he brought a picture frame from his room and wrote a note. The picture was Steve, Bucky, Nat and himself at a carnival. The memory filled Sam's heart. The note he wrote 'We will always b here for eachother, take as much time as you need because no one is expecting you to get over it :)' short and simple but with as much meaning behind it as a whole paragraph. He places everything on a tray and put it on the floor in front of Bucky's room. With a simple knock, he left the super soldiers alone but would be ready if they needed him.

Sam went back to the kitchen and made various baked goods for both Nat's returning and for the soldiers day. He brought tickets to another carnival in hopes to cheer them up. Nat arrived home and was hit with the smell of sugary snacks. Making an effort to put a small smile on her face, she said hi to Sam, they went to check on their super soldiers. Nat knocked and they waited for a scratchy voice to allow them to enter.

Bucky and Steve were just holding eachother and crying. Remembering how much they lost and everything that came after that day. They were interrupted by 2 short knocks. Nat's knock. Bucky said they could come in and she made a beeline for them. Immediately jumping to hug them, with Sam on her heels. Sam and Nat just hugged them and whispered reassurances to them as they sobbed. The Great Captain America and The Fearless Winter Soldier sat with them crying.

After about half an hour, Sam started an actual conversation,
"You guys didn't deserve what happened to you" he began softly
"But despite all of the tragedy, you have more than just eachother now. Me and Nat will always be here and have your back."
Nat nodded in agreement and held her 3 boys tighter.
"Sam bought us tickets to a carnival if your up for it."
Nat spoke to the super soldiers. And received small nods in confirmation. They all got changed and went out. Hoping to create good memories associated with today and not just the horrors.
