January 3rd

Shane finally asked me out on a date today. He seemed nonchalant about it or as if somebody had dared him to do it.

So I answered no.

I'm not somebody's game piece. I'm not put on this planet for his or anybody else's amusement. I'm a human being. I have my own feelings and I should be respected just like anyone else.

My best friend, Terry, told me he was sincere about the gesture, but I didn't agree. Shane just seemed way too laid back.

And not to mean I have really high standards, but I would like a little bit more of a romantic gesture than, "Me. You. Pizza. Tonight." written on an old crinkled up test paper he probably failed.

So, me being the brat I am, tore up the paper and threw it away.

I'm so stupid.

He probably thinks I'm not into him. He'll probably just move onto the next girl in line that's dying for him to ask them out.

Ugh! I hate boys!

January 4th

Apparently, I thought wrong.

I walked into school today, and as I approached my locker, I noticed how it was open just a crack. I rushed over to check if anything was stolen. Boy, was I surprised.

A bouquet of roses fell out. People stared. I picked them up and read the note that was tucked into the bouquet.

"Maybe I wasn't straightforward enough. I want to go on a date with you.

-Shane"

I rolled my eyes. That scored a five on the romantic gesture list. And that was generous.

I crinkled up the note, threw it away, and shoved the roses carelessly into my locker.

Hopefully he gets the hint.

January 5th

It scored an eight today.

Shane almost did it.

I walked into school and my locker was decorated with skittles wrappers and when I opened it, pounds of skittles poured out. There was a note taped to the door.

"Maybe I wasn't straightforward enough. I really really want to go on a date with you.

-Shane"

I laughed at the note and threw it away - just like the others.

There was another note that must've been taped underneath the other one.

"Btw, I noticed how you were always sneaking skittles into Mr. Damon's class so I thought you might like a few more."

I rolled my eyes and could feel my cheeks blushing.

January 6th

I said yes today.

When I walked into Mr. Damon's class today, Shane was sitting at my desk with a huge bag of skittles and a bouquet of roses.

"Cindy, maybe I wasn't straightforward enough," he said as he stood up and walked towards me, "I really really really want to go on a date with you." He smiled charmingly and handed me a sticky note reading:

"-Shane"

And so I said yes.

We have a date tomorrow night to go to a movie and I cannot wait!
