“Shay!” Lisa’s voice echoed throughout the high school hallway it was the end of the day I was stuffing my books into the locker, Lisa and I have been best friends since the 6th grade she had the perfect relationship with Alex Gaskarth who had formed a band together along beside Zack, Rian and Jack.
“Do you have a date for the school dance?”
I titled my head staring in her direction shaking my head.
“I don’t do dances”
Lisa twirled a strand of her hair around her finger, “What if I tell you that I could hook you up? Would you go then?”
Shay chewed on her lower lip, “What’s the catch?”
“Alex has this friend who also doesn’t have a date to the dance, I told Alex I’d help him find his best friend a date.” She smiled. “Please come?” she was now standing in front of me with her lower lip poking out I sighed heavily.
“Fine, I’ll go”
Lisa smiled jumping up and down clapping. “We have to take you dress shopping right after I text Alex and tell him” she grabbed my hand leading me out to her car, Alex had a lot of best friends I was determined to figure out which friend I was getting hooked up with but knowing Lisa she wouldn’t spill.
At the mall Lisa and I were inside of Macy’s looking at the prom dresses trying on a few of them finally for what felt like hours they had chosen their dresses they were both standing inside Starbucks waiting for their expresso’s just as the door chimed the girls looked back to only see Alex walking in his lopsided smile going as his eyes connected with Lisa’s, their relationship was perfect to perfect for words, I wanted something like that.
“Is that the dress?” Alex asked his arms wrapped around Lisa’s waist a smile crept upon her lips nodding.
“Can I see?”
Lisa glared shaking her head, “Not till the prom, sorry Lex”
Alex huffed crossing his arms, “Fine, I have to find Jack anyway I left him in Victoria secret he was trying on bras.” He smirked.
Lisa rolled her eyes, “Of course he is. I swear you two are going to get kicked out of this mall.” Alex laughed pressing his lips against hers.
“See you tonight”
Lisa nodded as he untangled his arms from around her waist a smile on his face as he backed away turning his back walking with the crowd disappearing.
“I want a relationship like yours and Alex’s.”
Shay took a sip of her coffee, Lisa smiled.
“It’ll happen, come on lets go to my place and dress up for our dates.”
Shay sighed, “If only I knew who my date is”
Lisa grinned.
“You will in a few hours”
Shay groaned.
“Girls! The boys are here!” Lisa’s mom shouted from down the stairs.
“Be down in a second!” Lisa shouted after putting down her hair straightener a smile on her face. “And finished” she held a mirror up I glanced at my reflection.
“He’s going to love it”
“I hope so, to whom ever my mystery guy is”
The girls soon walked down the stairs she could only see the back of her Mystery guy when she come to realize that Mystery guy was not just any guy, it was Jack, Alex’s best friend, Lisa and Alex’s eyes connected instantly that crooked smile across his and here I stood in front of Jack, he looked slightly nervous and shifted a little bit with a shy smile planted on his lips.
“Picture time” Lisa’s mom chimed with a camera in her hand.
Alex had his arms wrapped around Lisa’s waist with his lopsided grin going as Jack shifted nervously toward Shay putting an arm around her waist all four friends smiled for the picture then scattered around the living room getting ready to leave.
“Have fun!”
“Bye mom!” Lisa shouted as she closed the front door on the way out.
Shay put the picture up after staring at it for so long a smile on her face looking around as two arms wrapped around her waist those pair of lips against her neck, “Come set down with me”
“What about unpacking?”
Jack twirled her around a smile plastered across his face, “That can wait till tomorrow, it’s late anyway.” She wrapped her arms around his neck, her eyes locked with his very own brown ones.
“Prom night, one of the best nights of my life” Jack whispered softly into her ear as he slowly sat down on the couch bringing her down with him sitting her in his lap with his arms around her.
“Mine too”
Jack smiled pressing his lips lightly against hers.
“I love you” Jack whispers softly.
Shay smiles
“I love you too”
