“Hey Jack, why aren’t you inside?”
“They don’t need me inside.” He said tilting the bottle of Jack up to his lips taking a long sip of it, Shay leaned against the brick wall beside him she had always been a good friend to Jack she knew when something was bothering him and wouldn’t hesitate to ask if he was okay she took the bottle from him taking a sip of it herself.
“Why do you say that?”
“Shay look at them, Alex has Lisa, Rian has Cass Zack has that new girl and me? What do I have?” he took the drink from her taking another sip as the music beamed inside.
“That might be true Jack, but you and Alex are best friends like brothers you know he will always be there for you no matter what.” She tucked some hair behind her ear.
Jack sighed, “I hate being named the player of the group for once just once I’d like to have a girlfriend that’s into the same shit as me that loves to go out and have a good time that understands my job and why I have to go out of state, not worrying over if I’m cheating..” He took another long sip.
“Just why can’t I be happy for once?”
“Jack, you’re an amazing guy I’ve known you for nearly 6 years, no you don’t deserve being called the player of the group everyone deserves their own sort of happiness, their one true soul mate maybe you just haven’t found yours yet she’s out there somewhere looking for you, or maybe she’s already found you and just afraid of telling you.”
Jack threw the bottle of Jack down after he had drank the last sip he stood straight up wobbling a bit he sighed running a hand thru his hair, “Maybe that girl is right in front of you…” he turned his full attention on her as he turned around facing her his chocolate brown eyes she fell in love with the day she first met him was filled with sadness and hurt she wanted to change that for him, she wanted to be there for him to show him that it was her.
Before she could say another word his warm lips pressed gently against hers she could taste the alcohol that lingered against his lips she wrapped her arms around his neck gladly returning the kiss it ended shortly when the front door had opened she opened one of her eyes only to see Alex’s head poke out.
“Dudes you’re missing the fucking par-“he smirked, “Carry on..” he backed inside the house closing the door.
Shay laughed slightly biting her lower lip being lead back inside by Jack.
“What are you thinking about?”
Those familiar arms wrapped around my body those arms that have been holding me for the past hour as we both cuddled on the couch together my head rested on his own.
“Us, that party Alex had thrown the day I told you how I felt.”
Jack’s fingers laced with her own he smiled as he played with the promise ring he had given her a year ago a year after they had gotten together to be exact.
“Mmm, yes. Best night of my life.”
Shay giggled they had recently rented out an apartment just an hour away from Alex and Lisa she loved him and she knew he felt the same way of course her parent’s didn’t approve only because they think he’s not mature enough but that’s what makes Jack special he doesn’t act his age he’s still a kid at heart as is she one thing is for sure, she knew she was in love with him.
She knew they’d be together for the rest of their lives.
“Let’s make a pinky promise” Shay turned to fully face him.
Jack stared at her a smirk plastered across his lips, “That’s for children…”
Shay scrunched up her nose holding out her pinky, “Let’s both promise that we’ll be together forever no matter what nothing will break us apart.” She waited for him to link his pinky with hers.
“I promise” He finally answered wrapping his pinky with hers pressing his lips against hers sealing it with a kiss she smiled into it, it ended shortly she snuggled into his chest.
This is where they belonged.
This was their future together.
It was fate…
