"That does not sound very convincing "His fair face flashing up in an unseen anger or grief it can't be confirmed .
In the entire stretch of Aryavarta, if there was any person who dared to view its ancient values and practices with a skeptical eye after the demise of Maharathi Karna it was his youngest son, Vrishketu.
He was no stranger to his father's struggles to gain his deserved place of respect which would have come naturally to him if he hailed from a family of royal Kshatriyas.
Karna's identity had always hung heavy upon his calibre. Though he never admitted it.
One of the numerous occasions where his title had belittled him was one of the most magnimous events of the era, the swayamvar of the Panchāl princess.
A rejection at an event of that sort which would have been humilating of course but the way Pānchaali had tugged on his caste had turned him into an object of ridicule in front of the numerous Kshatriyas who were in no near position to his art of weaponry. That had occured long time back, so much so , that it can be considered as history. But the bards of the land seldom let tales like that die.
There was no use in holding a grudge against the the then Panchāl princess, now his Kakishri for the turn of events, Vrishketu knew. But unknowingly she had pulled a string in him by her prior comment.
He thought that whether the lady's liberal thoughts that she had just shared with him were innate or a realization that had dawned upon her over the rough course of life..?
"Well does it ? Looks like your Kakishri does not own a silver tongue , Putr"
The empress finished, her voice tinged with an air of disappointment.Vrishketu sensed that and began "Does the Samragyi really need it any way ?"
"She does, factually stating every reigning monarch of the land does in a precarious situation to appease the panicking public for the time being ."
'Was that how all the rulers of Aryavart had led their innocent soldeirs to their doom on the plains of Kurushetra?' He wanted to point out .
Though he didn't owing to the fact that it would taste too bitter on his tongue after what the Pandavas had done for him.
But that did not change what they had done to his family either.
