Today is the most anticipated day, graduation. The college days were finally over and Haelynn was eager to go home. Now that the graduation ceremony ended and after a series of long goodbye with her friends, she finally spotted her uncle and family waiting for her. She ran to them hugging her uncle. She was so happy that her uncle and aunt could make it to her graduation despite of their busy schedules. "Congratulations Lynn" said her uncle Charles. Charles, clad in a black suit looked like he was in the early forties." We're so proud of you", chimed her aunt Jenna who was in her formal fitting, smiling at Haelynn. "Thank you, guys; I couldn't do this without you and did miss you both so much", Lynn said hugging them both again. "Hope you are ready to go home; I think we'll reach home before night" replied her uncle while they were loading her luggage to the trunk of the car. She finally took a step a back, peering at the college once again savoring all the good memories and got inside the car.
They reached Raven hills after a long drive of ten hours. Lynn's college was a couple of towns over but it was a dreadful journey due to the terrain. Raven hills was more like a small town surrounded with mountains and lush forest. The city was situated miles away though the small town had its own shops, hospital, school and even a wildlife research Centre. She moved in here with her uncle when she was nineteen years old. They reached their home which was a few minutes away from town. Her uncle preferred a serene space, for a living away from the hustling of the town. Their home was a two storied glass house, blending the traditional as well as modern aspects of architecture exuding nature friendly boho vibes.
Her aunt helped her carry her luggage to her room upstairs. "Go wash up and come downstairs, we'll order in for dinner", Jenna left Lynn to settle in. She glanced at her room, everything remained the same as she left and all her books on the shelves were well kept and dusted. She took the photo of Lynn with her parents from the nightstand beside her bed. Her father, Alexander Clairmont was holding her along with her mother tucked in by his side smiling at the camera. He was a very handsome, intellectual man and was one of the high kings of the fae realm who ruled Atalia in his regal glory. Lynn looked lot like her mother, except for the caramel-colored hair and vibrant gold rimmed green eyes.
Her mother, Graceline Ann Clairmont was an artist, a lovely dark-haired woman with a radiant smile. It was during her father's stay in the mortal lands that he met her mother at an art exhibit. It was more like love at first sight and them being destined and art being their common interest drew them closer. It wasn't odd for the fae to take humans as their partners although in the archaic times it was forbidden so as to maintain a pure royal bloodline. Even the concept of the 'soulmate or soul bound or fated or destined' was considered so sacred that at times fae found their destined among the humans, half-fae and fae alike and such archaic rules were discarded eventually.
Her father was fascinated with the human culture and art which frequently made him visit the mortal lands. Lynn was told that it was after her birth her parents moved to the mortal lands as they wished her to have a chance normal life and to experience the human culture. Doing so, King Alexander passed his crown to his brother James Clairmont. It's been five years since she lost her parents and ever since she moved in with Charles Clairmont, younger brother of her father. Lynn placed the photo back and went to freshen up. After the bath she headed down stairs for dinner. The order came in the estimated time, luckily it was not the rainy season else it was difficult to order in due to broken trees blocking the roads during heavy storms. Aunt Jenna was arranging the plates and cutlery on the table while Charles was on a call.
It was after a while, back when Alexander and Grace settled in the mortal lands; Charles came to visit them. It was during the visit that he met Jenna and moved to the mortal lands after their marriage. Uncle Charles was now working in the Wildlife Research Centre and aunt Jenna as a history teacher and counselor at Raven hills public school. Noticing that Lynn was back, Charles ended his call and they sat at their dinning to have their dinner. The steamy chicken noodle soup and vegetable panini looked deliciously inviting. They started eating while talking about college, life in raven hills. It was getting late for bed and Lynn was tired. After helping her uncle and aunt in the kitchen, she went upstairs to her room. Sleep caressed her eyes the minute she dropped onto her bed.
