Mom and Dad were finalizing details for the wedding. Well, more so Mom. Dad finished helping me with my homework assignment and we walked downstairs to see Mom yelling at the wedding planner about Cake toppers.
"Yes, Melinda. There is a problem. The cake topper was supposed to be gold, not crystal. I don't see any gold. Do you?" Mom asked.
"Uh, maybe I'll come back," Dad said. We turned to leave.
"No, don't move," Mom said.
"Or I can stay," Dad said.
"Everyone else, move!" Mom said. The staff and I went to leave. "Daniella not you," Mom said. I turned back around and walked towards my parents while the staff left.
"I mean, we requested the 24-carat package. Do you think Sven is trying to sabotage our wedding?" Mom asked.
"Of course not. I also don't know who Sven is," Mom rolled her eyes. "Hey, hey, look. It's just a cake topper," Dad said.
"Just a cake topper" isn't good enough. This wedding is our chance to break the cycle of craziness. I just want drama-free," Mom said.
"And so do I. And we will have that, no matter which cake topper we use," Dad said going to kiss Mom making her drop the cake topper.
"No, no, no, no!" Mom sighed. "Well, that's great. Now you've been decapitated," Mom said.
"I promise you that nothing, not even... "I handed Dad his decapitated crystal head. "...my head getting chopped off, will stop us from our fresh start," We finished picking up the cake topper and put it in a box and were about to head upstairs until Alexis walked in singing in.
"♪ Here comes the mother of the bride ♪ ♪ All dressed in ♪ ♪ Red. ♪ Or is this more of a crimson? Well, maybe..." Alexis got sidetracked gasping at Dad's decapitated crystal head. "Oh, my word. Is this Liam's head?" She asked holding up the said head.
"Dial it down, Gloria Swanson. It was a small accident," Mom said.
"And I heard your florist backed out. I told you not to berate her," Alexis said.
"I gave her some constructive criticism about carnations," Mom said.
"Okay, who's ready for a wedding rehearsal?" Dad asked.
"Fallon, have you finished collecting your "somethings"? You know, "borrowed, blue, old, new"?" Alexis asked.
"No, because I have something more important to do. Like finding Blake so we can leave for the church," Mom said.
"I'll get him," Dad said walking off.
"The florist, the decapitation? Make total sense now. Omens. You can't ignore tradition, at least not in this family. Great Aunt Maude dismissed the custom and broke her hip on her wedding day. Is that what you want?" Alexis asked.
