AARON KNEW THINGS would never be the same.
She left, just abruptly and without warning. Sure, the Cullens and Charlie forgave her, but the real test was right in front of her. Well, she still had to drive there, but it was hard for her to turn the keys into the ignition and go towards La Push.
"You know, its not going to start itself," Charlie commented making her roll her eyes, but she gave him a wide smile.
"I know that, but will they forgive me?"
Her Dad gave her a look as if to say 'just get going' and she did. With trembling limbs, she swung her leg over the motorbike that the Cullens gifted her and turned it on. It roared with life and was enough to calm her down as she zoomed towards the treaty line. Was she welcomed?
She was thankful for the Cullens because they gave it to her, but at the same time she now like she owed them something. As she rounded the corner, she had to stop abruptly.
Standing in a fine line was the pack, each of them shirtless, and each of them with their arms crossed. Aaron parked the bike and turned it off before going and standing in front of Sam.
Paul and Trent flanked him and I could tell they were itching to greet me properly and that is how I knew it wasn't their choice.
"You technically are our enemy if you are on their side."
The girl rolled her eyes and crossed her arms. "You are such a child. The child isn't harmful, but what would be is the group of bloodthirsty vampires that will come to town to kill it. It will end in bloodshed with a lot of people getting hurt," she snapped making the alpha shift uncomfortably on his feet.
"So what? You want us to condone what they did?" Sam snapped stepping forward a bit. A low growl left her lips.
"Look, take your fucking pride out of this," she snapped. "Reneesme is harmless and if you would just spend a day with day with her you would realize that. We need help. There is no way that we could survive this and the last time something like this happened they burned an entire village. Now, do you really want that to happen here?"
Sam and her gaze never wavered as they had a silent conversation. "We'll help," he said making her hope soar. "But you aren't allowed on the property, not when your one of them."
"I'm not a vampire," she snapped watching Trent and Pauls expressions. They didn't know she was going to get banned so she's not that mad at them.
"I know that," he shrugged. "But you are close enough."
"So Jacob is banned as well?"
"No, he actually belongs here."
No one could stop her as she landed her fist onto his face, cracking the bone in half. She shattered at least three parts of his face and two of the betas she didn't know rushed to set it back into place. Paul and Trent were torn between helping their Alpha and being with their friend.
She didn't even break a sweat.
"Fuck you, Sam," she spat stepping closer until she was on the treaty line. "You're an asshole. Better send Paul and Trent for the meetings because I swear if I see you there I'll break your face again."
The pack watched as the girl stormed over to her bike and straddled it before pausing to look at the once again. This was not how she was expecting to go.
Aaron licked her lips before turning the bike on with a roar. "I'm disappointed. I thought we were still friends. Especially when I was the one who was forced to die."
Then she was off on her way back to her Father. There she wasn't expecting Billy Black and Sue Clearwater to be there. Her and Billy had a stare down, neither one of them blinking. Just because their children were on Bella's side didn't mean that they were.
Unexpectedly, Billy broke into a wide smile. "It's so good to see you. Come here and give me a hug."
She complied mainly because her father was staring her down. When she wrapped her arms around him, he pulled her tight to whisper in her ear.
"It's good to have you home. You were missed, but I don't think that the pack will be happy to see you," he told her warming her heart.
"Yeah, just came from there. It didn't go well," she said pulling away before greeting Sue with a warm smile. She could see the way her and her Father were looking at one another and she totally was going to grill him later.
Charlie pulled her in for a side hug. "I'm sorry that it didn't go well."
She shrugged. "I don't blame them. I'm the one who left."
The four of them sat down for dinner passing around the salad and burgers (vegan for her) making small talk. It was about a half hour later when they were all stuffed when Charlie asked the big question.
"So, did you know about Bella and the wolves?"
Aaron choked on her soda, thanking Sue when she handed over some napkins. "Yeah. I'm sorry for keeping it from you."
"Well it explains a lot," he joked earning chuckles from around the room. "Are you...?"
"No, well, I'm something. I just basically protect Bella until she dies," She said with a shrug but didn't miss the smile that graced Charlie's face. His girls taking care of one another is the only thing that he wants in his lifetime.
So Aaron spent the night explaining to the adults what she could do and the extend of her "powers." By the time she was on her way back to the Cullens, she couldn't keep the smile off of her face.
Things seem to finally be falling into place.
