"Writing, to me, is simply thinking through my fingers." - Isaac Asimov

This is going to be my first major writing attempt, I lost my love for writing long ago and I figured this was the best way for me to try and reignite it. I strongly doubt many people will see this but I would love any comments and/or criticisms.

-----------------------

I stepped back, shocked. "What are you doing here?"

The Black Widow and Hawkeye stood before me, stepping closer to close the gap and balancing every step i tried to take to distance myself. I hadn't done anything wrong, there was no reason for these vigilanties who tried to call themselves hero's to be here.

"We are here to take you someplace, we need you to comply."

"You're not going to kill me..." I glared "I am more than you can imagine." I glanced into a nearby car, catching my reflection in the window. My eyes glowed a small tinge of green, my curls lay torn on my shoulders. Time had not been kind to me.

"We're not here to kill you Ada, we know what you can do and our group wants to help you control it." They couldn't know, I hadn't told anyone, I just ran away. I felt heat grow in my stomach.

It didn't matter if I didn't trust the two agents, I couldn't cause any more harm. As the burning sensation began to build in the pit of my stomach I looked at them. They didn't look as though they had any reason to harm me, they didn't know what I could do yet. Maybe once they knew they would wish they hadn't done this, hadn't saved me. I hesitated for a moment, wondering if I would regret this, either way, one of the three of us was bound to regret this day.

"Back up, now!" I screamed. The two looked confused but they complied. Green burst from my chest, destroying everything within a few feet of me. This wasn't the first time, I knew what it felt like by now. Moments before it would happen I felt a burn growing in the pit of my stomach, almost as if swallowing a hot coal. Next it would transform into a what could only be described as a feeling of complete and utter content. The last was a feeling I could never describe, a mix of pain and content that I would likely never be able to put into words.

The two stepped back into the circle of my destruction almost as soon as it had finished. They didn't seem too scared of what I had just done. I had just turned the small street we had been standing on into a circle of rubble, so fine it could have been confused for sand. I looked down at where I sat, completely destroyed.

It brought me back to the moment that likely got me here. The moment that I had sworn to leave only within my own mind. If I suppressed what I had done hard enough, maybe I could be protected from the moment. The screams and rubble flashed back into my mind before I could make any attempt to block it out. I continued sitting where I fell, afraid that if I moved I would inflict some kind of damage again.

I picked at the sandy like ground encircling me. "I didn't want to be like this." A tear formed but was blinked away almost as quickly. I never asked to be able to destroy things like this.

"We know you didn't Ada, sometimes those who are given powers are the ones who despise them the most." The Black Widow reached a hand down to me as I stood.

Maybe I could leave with them, maybe they were telling the truth. I needed to understand these strange powers and thoughts that came into my mind. I could barely manage to hear my own thoughts if I wasn't careful. That was so far the only part I had gained control over. At first I heard everything anyone around me thought, it used to be the most difficult part of these powers.

"I'm sorry you have to feel this." Hawkeye continued in her place. "We've seen your advocacy for the rights of non powered people, having been changed like this must have taken a toll."

Ahh yes, the advocacy. After the attack on New York a few short months ago, I became an advocate for some kind of government control over powered individuals. The world was seeing larger and larger threats, mostly by those with powers, and I believed the only way to protect ourselves and our world was to keep track of how those larger than life acted.

"Yeah no kidding." I scoffed, brushing the rubble off of my clothes.

"We should get going now, if you're willing to come with us." The Black Widow glanced at something in the distance.

I knew how agents like this worked by this point. They probably had a dozen trained agents to follow them if anything happened to them or if I didn't agree to leave with them.

"I assume I don't have a choice." I stepped in between them as we walked.

We quickly boarded the jet and snapped in. The cool air of the jet was much different than the hot breezes of the countryside I used to call my home.

"It's about a three hour flight." Hawkeye yelled, I was grateful, power bursts like that often made me tired beyond belief.

"Oh and by the way, I'm Natasha, that's Clint." Natasha informed me, I must have looked asleep, or aggravated, or just done, because the two abruptly stopped speaking as I drifted off.

I'm not sure how long I slept, or how much of it was taken up by my nightmares. I dreamt of burning buildings, destroyed fields, and crying children. This was my future if I could not learn to control my powers. I would be destined to die by the hands of those who wanted to help me, or I would be destined to destroy everything in my path.

A chime followed by a robotic voice awoke me suddenly, jarring me out of my nightmares. "Miss Ada, I must inform you it is time to awaken."

"Who was that?"I looked around the bare room, lacking even a dresser, searching for any kind of person the voice could have come from. There was no one around.

"My name is J.A.R.V.I.S. I am an A.I program designed to help Mr. Stark and his associates." So that was it, Tony Stark, he was rich and powerful, I shouldn't have expected anything less.

"Well, can you tell me where everyone else is, Jarvis?" If Mr. Stark had put even a tiny bit of his perceived genius into this A.I. it could've probably told me the meaning to life.

"I will alert Natasha to come and retrieve you." Retrieve, it was such a strange word, as if I were an object or a prize meant to be explored.

Moments later Natasha knocked on the metal door and came in. The clang of metal threw me off, any doors I had ever come across had normally been wood, the occasional kitchen door was made of metal, but they were bigger, clunkier.

"Hey you." She whispered, as if scared to catch me off guard.

"Is everything here made of metal?" I joked. Natasha chuckled softly and scratched her head. I knew the answer before she even stated it, it was a cage, meant to control a dangerous person.

"I'm going to be honest with you kid. No, this is a reinforced room..." she shrugged."...just in case, ya know?" My head dropped a bit but I understood, I shouldn't be trusted yet anyways, they were far from naive.

"Oh." I sighed, still a little surprised.

"Yeah, but no use worrying about something we can't control. You should go meet the others." She waved her hand towards the door, inviting me out with her.
