Elena was peacefully sleeping until she suddenly heard a noise outside of her room. She got out of bed.
"Hello?" She says, walking into the hallway. "Jeremy?" From the top of the stairs, Elena looked down. She saw a shadow pass. Walking downstairs, she called out one more time. "Hello?"
Elena tries to turn on the kitchen light, but it wouldn't work. She thought maybe the power was out until she heard the tv turn on behind her.
"This is Logan Fell coming to you live from the streets of Mystic Falls with breaking news of another deadly animal attack. The wild animal terrorizing the citizens of Mystic Falls has claimed another victim, local high school student Elena Gilbert. Police are certain that forensic evidence will confirm that this is the same animal responsible for recent attacks." Elena had walked closer to the tv while listening, but froze in fear when her picture came up. She then heard a quiet voice behind her.
"You know what's coming next." Elena turned toward the voice and saw Damon standing behind her. She ran to the front door, but when she opened it, Damon was standing on the other side. She screamed and quickly slammed the door shut. Looking back toward the kitchen, she saw Damon standing there. Elena closed her eyes while screaming. When she looked back, though, he was gone. Looking around in confusion, she slowly walked to the stairs, but Damon grabbed her and attacked her.
...
Stefan gasped as he woke up, realizing it was just a dream. He looked forward and saw Damon sitting at his table.
"Bad dream?" Damon asks, knowingly. "Do you know how easy it was to get into your head just now? You really need some human blood. It might even the playing field." Stefan stared at him, trying to catch his breath. "Football reference. Too soon?" Damon smirked.
Stefan rushed to another table where he had a knife. He grabbed it and through it at his brother. It landed straight in Damon's chest, but the oldest Salvatore wasn't affected in the slightest. He just pulled it out and stood up.
"All right, I deserved that," he admitted to his little brother. "But I just wanted to let you know, the caught the culprit. The animal responsible for killing Coach Tanner and all those people."
"What are you talking about?" Stefan asked, confused.
"It was a mountain lion. Really big one. It attacked a hunter this morning. It's all over the news. 'Deadly Beast Captured. All's Well in Mystic Falls.'" Damon gestured in the air with each word of the headline, the way it would look on a newspaper.
Stefan looked at him in suspicion. "Why would you cover your tracks?"
Damon walked over to window, giving Stefan a smirk as he passed. "Technically, it was Diedra. The two of us have decided to stay a while. She finally found someone who she thinks is worth her time and attention, and I'm just having way too much fun here with you and Elena."
