A couple drove down an empty road late at night.
"An hour's drive to hear that crap," The boyfriend, Darren, complained. "You know, it wasn't even a band. A guy with a guitar. An hour each way."
The girlfriend, Brooke, chuckled a little. "He wasn't that bad," she replied.
"He sounded like James Blunt."
"What's wrong with that?"
Darren rolled his eyes. "We already have a James Blunt. One's all we need."
"So why did you come?" She questioned.
"Because I love you." As they are talking, a mysterious fog started rolling in.
"Nicely done." Brooke looked around. "What's with all the fog?"
Her boyfriend just waved it off. "It'll clear in a second."
She suddenly sees a woman standing in the middle of the road. "Watch out!" She screams, but it's too late. Darren runs over the woman. The car screeches to a stop.
"Are you okay?" Darren asks, trying to stay calm. Brooke is starting to panic.
"We just hit someone! Oh my god!"
"Call for help," he told her, getting out of the car to check on the woman. "Please be alive! Oh, my god." Suddenly, something attacks him from behind.
"There's no signal! Darren! Darren?" Brooke calls for him. She hears a cracking sound, and sees the woman get up. Her limbs to to all relocate back into place, and her bones seem to be mending themselves. Brooke tries to run, but something grabs her from above, dragging her out of sight.
Gilbert Residence
Elena was sitting at her window, writing in her diary.
"Dear diary, today will be different. It has to be. I will smile, and it will be believable. My smile will say "I'm fine, thank you." "Yes, I feel much better." I will no longer be the sad little girl who lost her parents. I will start fresh, be someone new. It's the only way I'll make it through."
[In the kitchen.]
"Toast. I can make toast." Jenna said while frantically running through the kitchen.
Elena walked in."It's all about the coffee, Aunt Jenna."
Jeremy soon comes in. "Is there coffee?" He steals the coffee that Elena just poured for herself. She gives him an annoyed look.
"Your first day of school and I'm totally unprepared. Lunch money?" Jenna holds up some money. Elena declines, but Jeremy grabs it. "Anything else? A number two pencil? What am I missing?"
"Don't you have a big presentation today?" Elena asks.
Jenna checks her watch. "I'm meeting with my thesis advisor at...now. Crap!" She starts gathering her stuff.
