Chasing Our Dreams

chapter 1

"Ate" tawag sakin ng nakababata kong kapatid kaya tumingin ako sa kanya ng dahan dahan.

"Yes baby, what is it?" tanong ko sa kanya tsaka sya binuhat.

"Ate sad?" tanong nya habang nakatingin sakin. Mata sa mata which shocked me since I did not expect that question from her.

She is a 3 year old and yes she can talk quite okay. She doesn't babble and stuff shocking isn't it? But then again when I was that age I could read and at that age my brother could already run fast.

"Of course not baby" sabi ko sa kanya habang nakangiti sabay kurot sa pisngi nya. "Why would Ate be sad?".

"Ate not smiling" sabi nya sakin sabay nguso kaya tinawanan ko naman sya.

"Ate smiles naman ah" depensa ko at ngumuso din kaya mas lalong napanguso yung batang nasa harap ko.

Tinignan nya lang ako tsaka hinawakan ang magkabilang pisngi ko sabay pisil at paulit ulit na sinasabi yung smile.

"Okay sorry na, Ate Cass will smile na palagi" sabi ko sabay hawak sa mga kamay nya kasi ang sakit nya pumisil.

"Yehey" sabi nito sabay yakap sakin mahigpit.

After a few minutes tinawag na kami ni Dad para kumain ng breakfast making me sigh since I dislike being in the same place as her. My little sister fell asleep on me so I carried her to my bed making sure to add some pillows on both her sides so she doesn't fall of the bed.

After making sure she's tucked in and secure. I made my way downstairs to the dining room and low and behold there they are. Acting all lovey dovey. Its sickening.

I had already sat down at my place in the table waiting for them to notice my presence, but they didn't so I cleared my throat making them look at me and straightened their posture quickly.

"Nakatulog ulit si Eya hindi ko na sya ginising" sabi ko sa kanila kaya tinanguan naman nila ako.

Kuya had arrived in the dining room sitting down at his place as well making all of start eating.

"So Cass which school do you want to attend for your senior year?" tanong nya.

"Vega High obviously" I said while rolling my eyes at what was asked.

"don't you want to go for a private school?" tanong sakin ng "wife" ni Dad na si Tita Rhea. "We can pay your tuition naman".

"We already started our classes last week, gusto mo pa akong lumipat?" sabi ko while rolling my eyes. "Get your mind out of the gutter".

"Cass don't roll your eyes" sabi sakin ni dad while raising an eyebrow.

"Okay, uhm what college do you want to enroll in?" tanong ni Tita Rhea trying to break the tension between me and dad.

"Are you trying to redeem yourself? Because it's not working" sabi ko clearly annoyed. "Tan molesto".

*translation: So annoying*

"Of course sorry" sabi nya while looking down making my Dad comfort her.

"Cass say sorry" sabi ni Dad sakin making me scoff.

"Fine, I'm sorry" sabi ko then started eating again making my Dad sigh and say sorry to her about my behaviour.

What a great way to start the morning. Gosh I really can't get a break can I? In just a few years I'll be out of here with kuya and Eya. Just a few years Cassandra hang in there.

We stayed quiet for a bit but finished eating our lunch. No one decided to talk after that so once everyone was done eating. Dad and his "wife" went out for their work at the company. Kuya went to the living room since he's watching a movie on the tv. Kaya tumayo na rin ako para mag ligpit ng ginamit namin at hinugasan ito.
