First Love

Lorelei's POV

Tuesday night

"Lorelei, is that you?" I hear my mom call. "Yes, mom its me," I say closing the front door. I take off my jacket, hang it on the hook, and walk in the kitchen. My mom was leaning over the counter getting things ready for dinner.   "Mom can I help you with anything?" "Sure, honey that would be great thanks!" "Could you chop up some carrots and set the table?" "We're having company over for dinner tonight!" "Really who??" "This seemed very out of the ordinary, did mom have a secret admirer I didn't know about?"  "Oh, the Ro'meave's." "Do we know them?" I asked suspiciously. "Yes," my mom said confirming my suspicions. " I was associated with the former Mrs. Ro'meave. "Oh, what happened to her husband?" "He got sick last year and passed away." " That's too bad." "Well they are going to be here soon so let's hurry." "So what do you know about them?" I asked my mom as we were finishing up. "Well, I know they have a son." I froze at the mention of the word son. "What's his name?" "Do you know?" "Oh yeah sure dear its Liam, why do you ask?" For a second my face turned a ashy gray. "What's wrong honey?" my mom asked. Just then the doorbell rang. I tense up briefly. "Oh man it's really happening." "Who knew what a small world it was??" "Well here it goes." "Lorelei could you please answer the door, we don't want to keep the guests waiting." "Oh yeah sure mom of course!" I squeaked and rushed out of the hall to answer the door. "Hello!!" I said a little too warmly. Liam  stands politely next to his mother and gives me an incredulous look. "Hello," I tried again. "Come on in, we are just finishing up getting things ready."
