CHAPTER ONE: The Park

"Mommy, Daddy, when will you be back to come and get me?" Richard said as his parents Alyssa and Tom dropped 5 year old Richard off at the baby sitters place.

"Son, we are only going to be gone for a couple of hours. Before you know it, we will come back to bring you home" Said Richard's father Tom.

"Now remember Hun, listen to Mrs. Stetson and be good." Richard's mom Alyssa interrupted as soon as Tom finished.

"Ok mommy, Ok daddy, I will be good, I promise."

"That's my son, always bein' good!" exclaimed his father with a clump of pride between every word.

As Alyssa and Tom left the building the babysitter took Richard into the play room with all the other kids whose parents were        out going somewhere.

          "Baby I'm so glad we had a son." Alyssa said to her husband with a facial expression that made Tom smile.

"Me too my love, me too."

"So where are we going Tom?" Alyssa asked curiously.

"Well, wherever we want to I guess. Remember tonight is for you and me. To get away from Richard and everyone else. Tonight is about you, and me."

"Aw, this is why I love you Tom. How about we go to the park?"

"Onward to the park, my dearest wife!" Tom said with a slight chuckle.

"Remember how we met?" Tom said.

"Yea, I remember it like yesterday. You were unplugging a stopped up toilet in the woman's restroom at McDonalds. And I went to use the bathroom in the stall you were in, but when I saw you, I screamed and ran out of the bathroom to complain to the manager. After finding out you were a plumber and was just doing your job, I laughed and we became friends.

"Yup, that sounds about right." He said laughing. "Well do you remember when I proposed to you?"

Alyssa remained silent. Just then they pulled up to a stop sign.

"Babe you don't remember do you?"

She looked down at her knees.

"No." she said with a small, sad voice.

Tom looked at Alyssa and turn her head toward his, smiled and said; "It's ok my love, I will tell you so you will remember."

Tom told her the story; "Well, we went to sea world. My best friend is the manager, remember?"

"Yah." Alyssa said.

"Well we split up, you went to go on the boat ride and I told you I was going to the bathroom. While you were gone, I somehow talked my friend into taking all the stingrays in the stingray tank but one. And I asked him to tie the ring to the stingray's tail."

Tom began to drive seeing that the road was clear.

"When you stepped off of the boat I talked you into seeing the stingrays. I looked down and pointed out that the stingray's tail had something stuck on it. When you saw it you got upset and showed the manager. He went and told one of his wranglers about the situation. The wrangler jumped in and took the thing off of its tail and said; "It's a wedding ring". And I said; "sir that's my wedding ring." He gave it to me. Then I knelt down and proposed to you."

"Aw, Now I remember. How could I have forgotten? That was the cutest thing you ever did for me. Tom I love you more than anything and don't you ever forget that!"

Just then they arrived at the park.

"We're here my love, how about we go to the boardwalks?"

"Yes, that sounds like an awesome idea!" She replied.

With a crafty smile Tom said; "and maybe, if we are lucky we will see a stingray."

"Oh tom stop it, you're too sweet."

The two of them sat down on a bench made into the boardwalk. She lies on his shoulder and falls asleep.

She wakes up to Tom nudging her back with his shoulder.

"Hun, it's time to get up we have to go get Richard and go home before it gets too late."

Still a little tired from just getting up she said; "Ok, can I drive though?"

"Sure but you just woke up so be careful."

"I will don't worry." She said.
