DAEGU
EVENING
╰━ ⋅✶⋅ ━━✶━━ ⋅✶⋅ ━╯✧──────✦ a ten minutes notice was all hobin had given jaehwa. he texted her that he was already standing in front of the cameraman of the one punch tv newtube channel. all he asked of her was to keep the pink haired girl, who she learned indeed had a name, gyeol, at bay while he fought the older boy.
as the girl ran past the corner jaehwa sat at, she stuck her foot out and tripped her. "i don't really like to get aggressive." she stood up and pulled her hair up into a ponytail. "but let's settle this with a fight." jaehwa had already thrown her knee brace to the side since it limited her movement, but gyeol moved first and grabbed a chunk of her hair.
seconds later, the two stood parallel to each other with both hands grasping the other's hair. "do you know how much i spent on my hair?" gyeol nearly snarled at her.
"i hope not much because it looks horrible. i'm not letting go until you film an apology for rumi." she had posted a nasty video 'exposing' rumi for having a horrible childhood. and because of this, her entire fan base and income had crumbled, leading her to shut herself in for the past week.
gyeol laughed at her and pulled back her head. the last thing jaehwa expected was a harsh head-butt to her forehead. she stumbled back a few feet and tried to ease the pain by digging the heel of her palm to the red spot.
"i hate that you made her cry so much," jaehwa lifted her foot and pivoted to the side, to make an effective side kick. gyeol coughed a few times before charging at her, just like the boy had done earlier.
she blocked the girl's jabs at her stomach and face, only a few making contact with her hip after jaehwa failed to dodge them.
once gyeol slowed down and ran out of energy, jaehwa ran up and twisted her leg around the boxer's arm. once her knee was bent around her arm and pushing against her stomach, she jumped and hooked the other leg with her ankle.
the flying armbar.
she never thought she'd actually need to use the move since she only specialized in taekwondo, but the boxer in front of her proved her wrong. years ago, jaehwa had taken a course in self defense since taekwondo was losing popularity and she wondered if any other martial art was interesting. not a single one caught her attention, but the teacher who taught her, had been famous for the move.
jaehwa's back met the ground and the force of her straightening legs extended gyeol's arm in an unnatural way and she groaned from pain.
"are you sorry?" she pushed down on the arm again and jaehwa wondered why gyeol wasn't crying in agony. instead of an answer, a set of teeth met the meat of her thigh.
jaehwa pushed her off and stood up, feeling the dripping blood race down her leg and soak into her socks.
"you act like a rabid dog," she tapped the wound and wiped off excess blood that neared her shorts.
"are you gonna cry to the referee?" gyeol chuckled as she pulled her hair out of the ponytail. jaehwa didn't think she was as funny as she thought. as gyeol charged at her for what seemed like the hundredth time, jaehwa put her arms up to block a punch like she had any other time.
except this time, a liquid ran down to her elbows.
"did i poke some holes in your arm?" jaehwa refused to look at her arms and instead moved her focus to the pair of brass knuckle rings that dripped her blood. "next time it'll be your face"
jaehwa fixed her posture and pushed her shoulder back. if gyeol wanted a street fight, she'd make it a street fight. her fist made contact with the pink haired girl's cheek as she dodged the hand that held the brass knuckles.
an elbow made contact with jaehwa's back and she fell to the ground. gyeol climbed atop her and laughed, "i thought professionals were supposed to be a challenge!"
jaehwa laughed with her, "you're an idiot." her leg escaped the space between gyeol's legs and she kicked upwards. hard. so hard that her body had completely left contact with the laying girl.
the pink haired girl's eyes rolled back into her head, and she fell on top of jaehwa. she rolled the unconscious girl off her body and took a few deep breaths. with the amount of strength and effort she put into the final kick, she wouldn't be surprised if gyeol needed to get her teeth filled from the pressure.
jaehwa pulled the girl onto her shoulder and walked the next few blocks. when she turned the final corner, she saw hobin elbow the foot of the cameraman.
she continued to walk forward until her presence was known. the three boys looked at her and jihyeok turned the camera towards her. the comments went off acknowledging the limp body that slung on her shoulder along with the drops of blood running down her leg and arm.
jaehwa carefully set the girl down on the asphalt, "apologize to rumi or i'll do worse next time." jihyeok and hobin repeated her words almost in a victory screech even though they had yet to win the fight.
she kneeled down and plucked the brass knuckles from the unconscious girl's fingers and looked at the one punch cameraman, "i'm taking these as a trophy."
her fingers pulled her phone from the waistband of her athletic shorts as she walked away from the fight. the first thing she saw were incoming texts from mina, haneul, and a few others. jaehwa just clicked her phone off after sending a quick text to taehoon.
her grandmother would have a heart attack if she went home in this condition, and the dojang was the closest place with a first aid kit.
she'd been halfway there before a bike stopped next to her. her head turned to the side and made eye contact with taehoon who had his hands stuffed in his pockets. he pointed to the back of his bike, signaling to get on.
jaehwa sat on the back of it and he began to pedal the rest of the way. the cold wiring of the seat dug into her legs as she occasionally bumped her bruising head against taehoon's back at every turn and hill.
eventually they made it inside and she collapsed onto the ground. jaehwa closed her eyes, trying not to focus on the intense pain coming from her arm and thigh.
"the hell did she do to you?" he pulled the first aid kit and sat next to her. she pulled the brass knuckles off of her fingers and set them next to her.
"it hurts." she gritted her teeth while her untouched arm was kept over her eyes to hide any escaping tears. taehoon carefully held her arm in place as he wiped blood from the wound.
"do you need me to walk you home?" he asked after he was done dressing the wound on her arm. her mood perked up at the question. what happened to wanting nothing to do with her?
"sure, but can you put a bandaid on my leg first?"
"where?" jaehwa stood up and turned to show him the huge bite mark on her leg.
"is she a rabid dog or something?"
"that's what i said!" she twisted to look at it, "is it infected?"
taehoon looked closer at it, "you might have to get your healthy leg amputated." she kicked him on his side at the joking comment. after he finished mumbling about how he was just joking, he wiped the wound with peroxide.
jaehwa tapped her foot as it could be felt bubbling up on her skin. he wiped it away after a few seconds and taped a piece of gauze to it since the bite mark was too big for the bandaid.
"walk me home?"
"okay,"
