DAEGU
EVENING
╰━ ⋅✶⋅ ━━✶━━ ⋅✶⋅ ━╯✧──────✦ taehoon and jaehwa walked along the same concrete path as they had for the last two weeks. the first week was when his father locked him out until he took her home, and the second was when he learned to leave before hansoo kicked his ass, like the first week.
they'd grown accustomed to stopping at the arcade for a few rounds before heading their separate ways. one was always too embarrassed over their losses to continue walking with the other, so separating was the best for sparing their pride.
it'd been an hour or so since jaehwa had gotten home, and she assumed taehoon was the same. she'd already showered and sat at her desk to finish her homework when she saw that hobin had gone live.
they hadn't exchanged any messages in a few days, so jaehwa assumed he was preparing for another fight.
the video went full screen and she her mouth gaped at the amount of blood. hobin looked like he had half of the bones in his body broken, along with a missing gallon of blood, or simply on the verge of death.
all of sudden he bursted out into song, 'amor fati!'
she took that as hobin going clinically insane and made her way to the door. before leaving, she yelled to her sister, "i'm heading out to get a snack, don't wait up!"
frankly, jaehwa couldn't remember the last time she ran. her knee felt better than it had in months, so why not push it a little. half way into her run, the sound of a bike behind her became increasingly louder.
she wished he caught up to her faster so she could ride on the back of the bike, but the final turn was already in sight. jaehwa heard the crash from the bike and taehoon ran past her.
by the time she caught up to the action, hobin's opponent had already been thrown to the floor after taehoon kicked him down. at the sight of him, the comments blew up and donations flooded in.
hobin looked at the two athletes, both drenched in sweat and panting. jaehwa had her hand on her hip while trying to catch her breathe after what was around a mile run, and taehoon side eyed hobin.
"hobin," taehoon turned his whole body towards him. "who told you that you could learn mma?"
jaehwa walked up to the two boys, "i heard you practiced it while wearing a dobok." she clicked her tongue in disappointment as her and taehoon towered over hobin, who seemed to shrink by the second.
"i wondered what kind of professional athlete would get their ass kicked by a regular guy." jaehwa turned to look at the copycat channel host. he looked around her height and slightly intimidating with the colorful tattoos that stretched from front to back. "are you even worth being called a pro if it's taekwondo?"
jaehwa watched as the opponent turned towards her. "and who're you?"
"park jaehwa," she answered with a blank look on her face. you'd think more people would know her since she was an international champion, but the world works in weird ways.
"i thought you died after that chick messed up your knee?"
"it was my acl not my brain, you idiot." her jacket began to stick to her skin, so she shrugged it off and tossed it to the ground, leaving her in a tank top she used for lounging around the house. donations spilled in after seeing the decade worth of toned muscle that was always hidden under her dobok. she stretched her shoulders out until they popped. "if you're worried about my knee, then i'll beat you with the healthy one."
