Although I am somewhat of a newbie to judging for awards, I do have some experience with judging in the Morpankh Awards and The Carnival Awards. I've also peer-reviewed numerous books/essays.
Judged various awards this year. And I always prefer to first read as a reader and feel the emotions and sentiments of what the writer wants to portray and then come to the judge mode. Because I feel that sometimes why reading as a judge you sometimes tend to leave a few things. PS: Everyone has different mind sets.
