We boarded the plane that was on its way to Massachusetts.
I didn't know what to expect when we got there. I held Liam's hand so tight it was practically red.
Everyone was on this plane. Lee and his parents, my parents, and Shelly and Noah jr. We decided to bring the kids because we couldn't just leave them behind. They would stay with my parents at the hotel while we visited Noah.
We sat in our seats. Shelly sat at the window seat, me in the middle and Liam on the aisle seat. Noah wanted to sit with my parents in the seats in front of us. Lee and his parents sat behind us.
I didn't tell the kids much about Noah. I still am not sure how to tell them thats there father because Liam has been there father.
"You doing okay?" Liam rubbed my hand. He's an amazing dad and husband. I'm glad that everything I have been through, it brought me to him.
"Yeah, I just hope he's alive. I dont think Ill be able to breath if he's not."
Those thoughts fluttered through my mind the whole flight. I was able to sleep for a little with Shelly but I was to anxious to stay still.
....
We finally landed. The airport was about 20 minutes from the hospital and the hotel was 10 minutes away from the hospital. Lee and his parents, Liam, and I were going straight to the hospital. My parents and the kids were going to the hotel to keep the kids occupied.
Noah and Lee's parents looked so pale. I couldn't imagine how they feel right now. I mean I could but, that's their child, that's a whole other level of pain.
....
Liam and I followed the rest of the gang into the hospital. Noah's room has been the same for so long I memorized the route to his room. That walk always makes me feel so much pain. We were down the hall when the nurses saw us. They waved and told us to go in.
"Mo-mom? Da-Dad?" I was speechless. My heart dropped and I couldn't keep still.
They ran to his bedside. The tears rolled down there cheeks and my eyesight got blurry. I had to wipe my eyes and keep myself together.
I looked to my right to see Liam just as emotional as I was.
Lee walked over to his brother and he was so happy to see his eyes open.
"When we called you Noah was starting to have brain activity again. We were so shocked, its a miracle because of how long its been. He just woke up this morning at 2am." The nurses walked over to me and Liam. "We thought you should know his first words when we woke up were 'El, I love you."
I started bawling my eyes out. Liam hugged me. I hope he didn't feel like I didn't love him anymore, because I do. I am just happy Noah is alive.
I walked over to Noah's bed and he reached out his hand. "My El." He smiled but he was still very weak. "How long has it been?"
"Oh Noah." I had to hide my tears. "It's been years."
Right when we walked in, Lee called my parents to come and bring the kids. They should be here soon.
"What have I missed?" Liam walked up and sat next to me. "Wait, your hand?" He grabbed my left hand this time. His eyes went straight to the diamond ring.
I couldn't tell if he was sad or happy. I mean he probably was both.
"Wow. It's been that long huh." Noah looked at Liam. "I'm happy that if anyone was gonna steal my girl, it was you."
I could tell Liam was happy that Noah approved.
"So how are-" Noah was cut off.
"Mama!" Shelly and Noah jr ran into the room.
Noah's eyes opened. "I-"
"Shelly, Noah, this is Noah." The kids hung around Liam as they greeted Noah.
"El, are they ? Mine?" Noah seemed anxious to know that answer.
I smiled. "Yes."
Liam looked at Noah. "They are just like you. Its a headache." He laughed and so did Noah.
