EL POV
A few days went by before I was able to visit Noah. Liam visited nearly every day and Lee was there sometimes. He just got a new job in the area so he's been real busy. Today I was all alone and begged the nurse to let me see Noah. She finally agreed and put me in the wheelchair. I was allowed to carry our baby boy and the nurse grabbed our baby girl.
Everytime I enter his room it feels so empty. So much space yet so much loneliness.
"Hi Noah. I wanted you to meet our daughter and son. I wanted to check with you first but I was thinking about naming our son Noah. I figured in honor of you, hoping you want to change it and wake up. I don't think I can be a mom without you. I don't think I want too. I was hoping you would want to pick our daughters name, but if not I can. They look just like you, how rude. I think im going to name our daughter Shelly. Since it reminds me of when you called me that. Please come back to me, please. I love you."
I could hold the tears back any longer. I had the nurse wheel me back to my room. My parents were going to be here soon anyway. And Liam probably.
......
A month later I moved home with my parents and Liam came with me. Lee stayed in Massachusetts because it was easier with his job. I am going to do college online because it's easier with the kids and everything. Liam asked me to move in with him in a house down the street from my parents, so they can help me whenever. Liam got an internship near the house so we have income coming in.
(3 years later)
Nothing much has changed except that Liam and I have gotten real serious. The kids are growing up so fast. Noah is still in a coma and I'm not sure he will ever wake up. I have not visited since I moved home but I hope to see him and Lee soon.
"Do you want to go to a vineyard tonight? I heard it has amazing food. Your parents offered to watch the kids if you're interested?" Liam walked into the kitchen as I was feeding the kids. He gave them each a big kiss on the cheek.
"I would love too." I smiled feeling relieved its just a night for the two of us and no kids. We go on dates sometimes but just to simple dinners, nothing to crazy.
"Perfect. Be ready by 6." He smiled and grabbed his phone to go upstairs. It was already 4:30pm so I had to rush to get ready. I heard a knock at the door and I opened it to see my parents. They love watching Shelly and Noah. It was perfect timing because I needed to start curling my hair.
"Hey sweetie." My mom hugged me and immediately ran to the kids. My dad did the same.
"Thanks for watching them for us." I headed up the stairs to the bathroom to do my hair. I quickly did my makeup and ran to the room. Liam was nowhere to be found but I just assumed he was in the basement doing whatever he does down there. I found a cute floral white sundress that finally fits me after losing the pregancy weight. I threw on my braclets and my favorate sandals.
"El you ready?" Liam was at the bottom of the steps saying goodbye to my parents and the kids.
I ran downstairs in a hurry grabbed my pink kate spade purse from the shelf. "Yes I am." He smiled when he saw me walk down. "Goodbye everyone." I gave air kisses and walked out the door with Liam.
Liam drives a black lincoln thats sometimes impossible to get into. He opened the passenger door for me, "go ahead me lady." He's too sweet to me.
.....
We arrived at this beautiful vineyard. It wasnt that crowded which was nice. We did valet parking so we didnt have to walk far. He grabbed my hand. He looked at me and said," You know I love you so much right." I smiled.
"Yes you only tell me everyday." I giggled and he laughed.
"Hello! Welcome to Terrace Vineyard! Can I help you to a glass of wine?" The hostess was a older guy in a blue polo and black pants with a fun tie.
"Yes please. 2 red wines." Liam was pleased with the service and the view was amazing. Before entering the restaurant you had the option of walking out in the grass area and sitting on small wooden tables. You were then able to walk through the vineyard that was on top of a mountain that overlooked the city. There were small pathways in the vineyard so you didn't have to get your shoes muddy.
Liam led the way through the vineyard. "The view is so, so wow. And to have you right here next to me is such a blessing." He brought me to the edge where there was a stone ledge to sit and look at the city. He put his wine glass on the ledge and I put mine down too. There were very few people around. He grabbed both my hands and held them tight. He looked into my eyes.
"El, these past years have been so great. I feel like I was destined to meet you. You are beautiful inside and out. I wish I could have been the guy Noah was but I liked to think everything happens for a reason. You have been through so much and I want to grow and help you grow and you are an amazing mother to Noah and Shelly and I want to be there for all the moments. I want us to be a family." He got down on his knee and pulled out the most BEAUTIFUL diamond ring. "El, will you make my life complete and marry me?"
I almost dropped dead on the floor. "YES YES YES." I heard clapping and I turned around and saw Lee !!
This was the best day. I am so lucky to have the most amazing man by my side and 2 beautiful kids. It felt weird just stop thinking about Noah. Moving on without him felt so wrong but it still felt right.
