{WANDA'S POV}

Bucky fixed me up, believe it or not. Both of us not daring to go to the hospital to stitch me up. The bullet didn't hit anything, it wasn't too deep either. Bucky left an hour ago to let a friend of his know what happened to his son.

"You've got this." I tell him, my hand resting on his. "And when you get back I'll be here."

"Thank you. I'll see you little bit." He told me. Then he left.

I was pouring myself a cup of coffee when the apartment door opened and I heard Bucky's footsteps.

"Wanda?" He called.

"I'm in the kitchen."

I heard him step in and his metal arm hit the kitchen wall. I set down the cup of coffee and take in his facial expression. He just looked hurt and pained. The look you have when you've regretted what you've done but it was for the right reason. His friend needed to know.

"Come here." I say with my arms open.

He walks into them and he gives a shuddering exhale. His frame trembled. His chin was in the crook of my neck. We stayed like that. Comforting each other. The world was silenced. Everything stopped. Time stood still. It was just me and him.

He pulled back. He looked me straight in the eyes. "Sometimes I still feel like the Winter Soldier is still there."

I tilted my head, searching his blue eyes. "How so?"

"It just feels like he's just standing right behind me, in the shadows, on my shoulder, in my head. Waiting. Waiting for that moment of vulnerability."

I raised my hand. "Do you want the honest truth?"

"Yes."

I raised my hand to his forehead and let a small ball of magic enter the center of forehead. I searched his mind for the Winter Soldier. There wasn't a trace of him. The only person that was there was Bucky.

"I just feel you."

———

Sam invited us to a party on the docks in Louisiana. I got Bucky to help me bake my mother's favorite cookies and he brought out an old recipe he loved when he was a kid.

When we pulled up to the docks Sam's nephews began to chase Bucky and act like they were beating him up. I just hung back and smiled at their fun. We found Sam chatting with a couple people getting photos taken with because he's the new Captain America.

"Where is everybody?" Bucky asked Sarah who chatting with a couple people.

I tugged on Bucky's sleeve. "I found Sam. Here come on!"

I practically pull Bucky over to go say 'hi' to Sam. I pull Sam in for a hug and Bucky does the same.

Everyone goes in their own directions. Laughing and smiling. Chatting and eating. The kids are playing. I get to know Sarah a little better. Bucky comes over with two kids hanging on his metal arm. We diverse into conversations. Sarah eventually asks us: "why don't you two just stay here?"

Bucky leaps at the answer. "I would personally would love to move in with Sam but he's just too messy."

"'Messy'? How about a little too organized for your liking. I however would love to move in here but I go wherever Bucky goes." I say to Bucky and Sarah.

The evening goes into the sunset with dancing and partying. Everyone feels like their home. I finally feel like I can breathe and be free. This is safe space. Sam comes up to us with a couple of the cookies I made and Bucky's cake-like-pie. He asks us where we bought the food. We inform him we made it ourselves, just a little something from our childhood.

"Seriously? You two made these?! There delicious. Wanda, you seriously think about opening a bakery."

"Maybe I will." I shrug with a smile.

———

"Wanda? You awake?" Bucky asked me from the couch.

I turn to him, opening my eyes. "You know I am."

I'm sitting in the arm chair with a blanket brought up to my chin. It's been a week since we went to the party on the docks. I helped Bucky with his book. We finished it yesterday. Bucky seemed to better mood.

"Can I ask you something?" He asked me. His voice very soft. It makes me sit up straighter to look him better.

"Yeah."

He drew a breath. "What do you think Vision would think about you being with me?"

Wow. I wasn't expecting that of all things. Vision only wanted me to be happy. He would want the best for me.

"I think-I think Vision would want me to be happy."

Bucky leaned closer to me, trying to get a better of me. "Do I make you happy?"

Before I could stop myself the words were tumbling out of my mouth. "Yes."

"Are you sure?"

"Vision was my lover. He's been dead for five years. He got resurrected and tried to break my skull. That's not my Vision. My Vision only wanted me to happy, no matter what happened."

"What if he came back and remembered you?" His voice is soft and delicate.

"Oh, James." I breathed. I slide out of the arm chair and got on my knees and to the side of his face into my palms. "Vision was my lover. Was. Things have changed. He was my then. You, James are my now."

"No matter what?"

I give him a quick peck.

"No matter what."
