The next morning, I woke up so early so as to speak with Maggie, I wanted to apologize about what happened yesterday but she was never ready to listen…and for the very first time she snubbed me.

”It’s way too early to start the day like someone in grief, if you know you’re here just to apologize for a crime you didn’t commit you better get out from my sight” She said to me and stood up from where she was sitting to another place.

I moved to where she was sitting and held her legs, I never knew she could ever be extremely mad at me, not too long, Daniel came in to the sitting room from his bedroom; he sat beside his mum and asked what the issue was. After her explaining everything to him, he held her fingers and started pulling them up for her.

“Mum, definitely, with time she’ll open up to me” He said to her.

She angrily stood up from where she was sitting and began to move to and fro.

“What time does she need? Just look at her, she even leap's…the person really dealt with her, look at the scars, and just look at her” She said with a pressing voice.’

He moved closer to his mum and tried stopping her from talking because she was almost crying.

“No, no, no, you can’t cajole me this time around. I was quiet for more than fifteen years; I suffered really hard for more than fifteen years. I was a victim of my circumstance and refused to speak that was why your father died in my hands…I’ll bear that guilt forever” She said sobbingly.

I was shocked when I heard her said something about Daniel’s father, ever since I’ve been with her, she has never mentioned his name or said anything about him but today she did and it wasn’t a good one…and he then focused on his mum.

“Mum, it’s alright. You aren’t guilty for my father’s death; you never meant to kill him, that was the main reason why you were bailed out of jail in time on amnesty” He said to his mum pathetically.

“And mum, the pain you felt is now your power, your weakness is now your strength, you are no longer a victim of your circumstance, you are no longer subjected to violence, this is you now, your past was just a chapter of your life and I’m so much lucky to have you as my mother” He said to her with a pressing voice, with tears dropping down from his eyes.

He then hugged his mum; I couldn’t hide my tears and emotions, and ran into my room, locked the door, cried till I slept off.

At midnight that same day, I woke up and switched on the light. I thought of my past, the life I lived and the threats before me. It was two days left to the festival and I didn’t even have a thousand out of the millions the guest requested for…I picked up my pen and the book on my table then wrote down all I was thinking of, the past I could remember and all the guest did to me and what she requested of. I dropped the note on my table after writing, switched off the light and went back to bed.

The next morning he woke up full of energy, had his bath and dressed up, he went to meet his mum who was almost heading out to work.

“Mum…” He called “Good morning mum, isn’t it too early to leave for work?” He asked his mum

“What is the essence of staying home when I’m not happy? I better get going to where I’ll find laughter” She said to him
