RORY'S POV

Jared Never showed up.

The bitch decided to cower away and to say I was pissed would be an understatement.

Bella had avoided me for the entire week for the most part because I had yelled at her for dating something that wasn't human. But also because I was overall not in the mood to talk. As a matter of fact, Charlie had also avoided me, and everyone else at school.

"Aunt Roro?" Maxi looked up at me as she came into the attic with her colouring book. I had just picked her up from school and Ray had given me the day off so we were just sitting around.

Maxi was the only person I had really talked to all week After all, she was the only one who could numb my anger the way she did.

"Hey, Max. What do you need?" I looked up at her with a smile. But she didn't seem very happy. "Max, what's wrong." Before she could even answer I was hoisting her up in my arms to comfort her. She moved her head to look at me.

And her eyes told me everything I needed to know.

It was a bit of an unspoken understanding between us but we could usually tell what was up by the way we looked at each other. And right now she was telling me we needed to go.

"Bella, I think she's going to talk to Jacob again."

I looked down at the girl and nodded, the anger rising slightly in my throat. I hadn't told Maxi anything about the whole Wolf thing. And I still didn't know anything about the thing I had fought in the forest so I didn't even mention it to her.

But she knew me well enough to know that something was up.

So we left.

"Maxi, No matter what you see, I need you to stay as calm as possible ok?" I looked to my niece who nodded as she fiddled with the radio.

We took the 5-minute drive to Jacob's house where, as expected, I saw Bella doing exactly what I had told her not to do.

She was Provoking people.

"What did you do!?" She yelled as three shirtless boys attempted to ignore her "Hey! What did you do to him? He didn't want this!" She continued pushing one of the boys It was to far to make out a face but I knew he was mad, whoever he was.

"What did he do? What did he tell you?" He Pushed back as the older man got between them.

"Both of you calm..." He started only to be interrupted by Bella again. 

"Nothing! He told me nothing because he's scared of you!" She threw a punch hitting the guy straight in the jaw.

'She punched a werewolf' I almost laughed at the thought while the man began to shake and frankly I had no intention of stopping it. Because this was Bella's karma. You could call it cruel but she had screeched at me earlier this week about not siding with her or understanding her relationship with Edward. So, I didn't feel like I had much of an obligation to save her.

"Bella, get back. Paul, calm down now." The one who I assumed to be the leader roared from his spot. I was about to turn Maxi around so she didn't see anything too brutal but when my hand went down to reach her I felt nothing.

She wasn't There.

That's when my eyes caught a glimpse of her small figure putting herself in front of Bella.

The boy I had come to knew as Paul shifted into The wolf I had been so mesmerized by before. Only this time, I wasn't too focused on him.

I was running toward Maxi with no intention of stopping.

I could Vaguely hear Bella and Jacob yelling my name for me to stop, The same yells directed at Paul's wolf from the other boys but Neither of us were paying attention as The grey wolf's teeth presented themselves.

In a moment of tunnel vision, I slid the last meter or Two on my knees before using my body as a shield and extending my forearm defensively,

And Paul latched on.

The space was completely Silent as Paul's teeth sunk into my skin, But I didn't flinch. Instead, I stared him down and in the most menacing voice I could muster up I ordered him.

"Back. Up."

this look of pure regret and guilt washed over his wolfish features as he unlatched and backed up. His whimpers filled the air as he circled around my form in a panic before our eyes met again.

Sometime during that moment, Jacob had shifted and stalked towards Paul's sorrow-filled form. They began to fight and before anyone could stop them, They disappeared into the forest.

"Welp I guess the wolf's out of the bag" The boy I knew as Quil joked in an attempt to lighten the mood after a few moments of awkward glances.

Everything suddenly sunk in and that when I became fully aware of the little girl in my arms. I quickly pushed myself off her before examining her features for any injuries.

"Maxi! Are you hurt? Did he get you anywhere? If he touched a hair on your head I promise I'll-" Before I couldn't finish my interrogation though, She pulled me into a hug.

"I'm ok Aunt Roro, and I don't blame him." Her mumble into my chest was enough for me as I embraced her in a tight hug. We sat there in each other's arms for what felt like an eternity before the Leader spoke up.

"Embry, Jared get them back to Emily's. Quil you and I will finish Patrol." And with that, He disappeared with Quil Leaving Jared, Embry, Bella, and Me with Maxi now falling asleep in my arms.

"Uh... I know this is probably a bad time but... are you Rory Rebel?" Embry Approached me cautiously as I looked up from the sleeping child.

"Don't worry about it, and Ya I am." I smiled.

"So no ones gonna mention that she was just bitten by a wolf and hasn't even winced?" Jared Chimed in from where he stood.

"So no ones gonna mention that Jared ignored me for an entire week?" I mimicked back shooting him a glare.

"I was under a gag order ok?" He came over to me as I got up.

"Embry do me a favour and Hold Maxi?" I asked politely to which he opened his arms for her. "And Jared, come over here. I need some help." I motioned my hand for him to come over which he did.

Quickly I took off my shirt revealing a black sports bra underneath and got Jared to wrap the wound with the discarded shirt.

"Thank you... Now." Jared looked up for me to continue and in return got a punch to the nose.

"OW! What was that for Rebel?!" He barked as the blood spilt down his jaw and onto his shirt. He attempted to stop the bleeding as I just looked at him.

"I don't care about a damn gag order. You're still my friend and I don't like being Ignored for a week. If you had explained that you couldn't tell me I would've understood."

He stopped for a moment to consider it before looking at me again, his bloody face showing a frown as he apologized.

"Good, Now. Embry since you're already holding Maxi, you drive with me. And Jared you take her." I looked over to my cousin but The anger rose all too quickly. Fisting my hands I Took A breath before walking away. Words couldn't even encapsulate just how furious I was with her right now.

Maxi was nearly killed.

And all because Bella couldn't follow my one request.

I told her not to do anything stupid. And she went and provoked a fucking werewolf in a situation she didn't understand.

I wouldn't forgive her for this one.

And I Had a feeling she wouldn't try apologizing.
