Song: Chapel of Love (The Dixie Cups)
RORY'S POV
The room roared to life in a fit of whispers and gasps but the silhouettes held their ground like statues.
And that booming voice still remained, shaking most people away from them in fear.
But I was the opposite. Because as our eyes met that same familiarity filled the space between us. His striking eyes held that same passion they did months ago and his stature still held such authority that others may have wanted to get out of his way. But his face softened as he saw me, and my soul healed as I saw him.
And when he whispered my name in the softest most desperate voice I'd heard, I fell in love with him all over again.
"Paul," I mumbled as I kicked off the silver heals and ran towards him. Paul did the same meeting me halfway and the minute our skin touched, It was like my world was suddenly void of every and any danger or uncertainty. He held me off the ground with such ease and his arms fit around my upper body like a missing puzzle piece as I held on for dear life.
We only released enough to see each other's faces before I heard the screaming white noise that was my mother storm down the aisle with Eric close behind.
However, before they could reach me. The other people of the group filed in front making what could only be seen as a protective barrier around me.
Jennifer stood strong at the front with Maxi in hand as a man I had seen once or twice before stood beside her.
"What is this!?" Leslie screeched to the
"Nice to see you too Leslie. Now if I'm correct, this marriage is to Unify the Swan and Dalton Law firm. Can you confirm this statement?" Jennifer voiced in her business tone.
"Yes that is correct, and this is a very important moment for my daughter so if you wouldn't mind leaving the building, we'd all appreciate it." The older woman mocked back.
"Um... sorry to interrupt." The priest spoke through the microphone at the alter. "But since the young man next to the bride objected to the union, we will not be able to continue the ceremony. It's a law of the church that goes back centuries."
"What?!" Leslie and Eric growled in unison making the priest flinch slightly. I could barely believe they had done it. They had successfully postponed my wedding but despite my personal satisfaction, it seemed that none of them were done just yet.
"Well, it seems now I have all the time in the world to say what I need to say." Jennifer literally pushed her way to the altar with the help of Jared and Quil before steadying herself at the mic. "I'd like to start by saying Happy birthday, Aurora. And with that, I have a gift for you."
She signalled for the familiar man to approach the altar with a piece of paper in his hand and that's when I noticed the camera crew standing at the entrance of the church. They were from one of the local news channels and had often aired my broadcasted fights. Which meant that Jennifer had called them here. She had planned out everything but now all I wanted to know was why.
"H-hello everyone, sorry for intruding. I'm in charge of the Swan bank accounts and financial management, and here I have Mr. Joseph Swan's will which unfortunately was never read to Ms. Aurora. That being said it's rather important she hears it before going through with this union." My heart practically stopped at the mention of my father but still, I listened intently as he began to read the will.
"I, Joseph Antonio Swan, give everything under my name to my daughter, Aurora Rebel Swan. This includes The Swan Law firm, All my bank accounts, And all my personal possessions. All possessions are to be transferred directly to her on her 18th birthday. Until then it is to be kept under bank jurisdiction."
