Prologue.

Whistling willows spread their drindlings across the open valley, leaving their silky white leaves resting on the tops of tree roots and scattered pond stones.
But only two were left silently and slowly drifting along the pond's surface itself, at first. Two mysterious figures were watching the body of water with a strange interest.
One was wearing a dark cloak that hid most of the glistening scales that lined their glowing ocean-blue eyes, while the other was fully open with their true outer-self, revealing their coppery ram horns and draconian appearance.

The two glanced at each other and began to whisper incoherently to each other, then looked back down at the pool.
The pool now reflected the fifth moon with its shadowy flames. But this time, more and more white-willow petals began to gather around the world first two, swirling and swirling until they all combined then flew up into the air with a sprout of shining pond water.
