'That Night' (Conor Maynard Fanfic)

Part five.. "Just leave"

The door bell rang, mum had gone to work for the first time in 7 months, it was half term. I opened the door and there he was, my dad. Everything came flooding back.

Shhh Rhea, its just me..

I slammed the door shut in dads face, I fell to the ground and started crying. I pulled out my phone and called Conor, it went to voice mail,

"Hey Conor, can you come over, as soon as you get this please" I tried to sound less upset, I didnt want to worry him, I couldn't stop crying. Tears kept falling down my face, my nose was running and my throat was sore. I could still hear dad knocking on the door, asking to let him in.

"NOOO! GO AWAY, YOU WALKED OUT ON US, YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED. YOU LEFT MUM IN SUCH A STATE. LEFT HER TO THINK EVERY THING WAS HER FAULT, SHE'S JUST GOT BACK ON HER FEET. WE DON'T NEED YOU ANYMORE! I PRATICALLY HAD TO LOOK AFTER HER INSTEAD OF THE OTHER WAY ROUND." I screamed and stormed up stairs. 

It was half an hour and Conor wasn't here. I tried calling him again, voice mail, I left another message. 

It was 4:30, Conor had called to tell me he was outside, I walked down stairs, opened the door and pulled him in, so dad couldn't walk in after him. I hugged him soo tightly, I didnt want to let go.

"hey babe thanks for the hug, but whats wrong?" he was looking concerned

"It's my dad. He came to here, after all he's done!" I felt tears build up in my eyes again. We went into the front room. Conor was in the kitchen making us some tea, I was shaking, I hadn't told anyone, yet Jade was the only one who knew that the version that every one knew was a lie, yet I still couldn't tell her the truth! He came in put the to mugs on the table and took my hands.

"look, you can tell me anything you know?" He said the concern was clear in his voice,

"I know, It's the fact that dad has came back after all this time, after he just left my mum, no explaintion" I said, not convinced mt self why I was still lying?

"Even I know thats not true. It's something much more, I know you've been crying all afternoon" Con said looking straight into my eyes.  

"I'm not lying, you've seen my mum and how she's been, the mess he's made" lies. Again, I can't bring myself to tell him the truth, with all we've been through, he's there for me.

"Rhea, I know you're lying, you can tell me!" he said staring to get pissed that I couldn't tell him.

"I can't, I don't know why, I just can't" I said confused myself.

"Well try, you can trust me" he was now shouting,

"I can't, Just leave, if you can't understand what I've been going through then go." Then came the tears again!

"I've waited for you to be ready to tell me, and I can wait even longer if you want me to." He was being so kind, and I was being the opposite even though he was trying to help.

"Please just go!" I was now shoving him out the door, I need to be by myself, dad was still outside,

"BOTH OF YOU LEAVE PLEASE. DAD GET LOST, IF YOU'RE HERE WHEN MUM COMES BACK I SWEAR TO GOD I WILL KILL YOU, YOU'RE NOT GOING TO RUIN OUR FAMILY AGAIN!" Tears were flooding down my cheeks,

"Listen Rhea, call me when you're ready." And Conor was gone, just like that. Then, dad followed him, my life went back to the lonely summer.
