Sirius' POV
"YOU'RE fucking with me, right? You have to be." James says when I break the news to him. That I'm not only dating a Slytherin, but that that Slytherin happens to be y/n y/l/n, daughter of Death Eaters, and the girl I'm in love with.
"No. I love her and I want you to be nice to her. If you can't handle that, than I don't think we can be friends anymore." I tell the group matter-of-factly. I'm not sure if anyone else has a problem with it since James is the only one voicing his opinion, but if they have an issue, the same goes for them.
My dorm is silent for a few minutes, before Lily breaks the silence, "That's great!" She cries out. "I'm so tired of being the only girl hanging around here. I can't wait to officially meet her."
"Thanks Lils." I smile, grateful for her approval. With Lily's approval, James will be close behind in accepting y/n. Afterall, it's no secret who the boss of their relationship is.
"I agree with Lily. I'm glad you found someone who makes you happy." Remus smiles at me.
"Me too." Peter supplies.
I turn towards James expectantly, hoping he's changed his mind already, although I don't hold my breath. "Fine." He sighs. "You're my best friend so I guess I'll give her a chance." He relents.
"Great." I beam. "But this has to stay between us. As I'm sure you know, her parents are death eaters, and although she's not like them, if they knew who she was associating with, it could put her into danger."
"No worries. Our lips are sealed." Lily assures me, speaking for the group.

Y/N's POV
I slump back onto my bed with a huff. The tension quickly dissipates from my body, leaving me feeling energized physically. But mentally, I'm exhausted. Soon after Sirius told his friends about me, he snuck me into his dorm to hang out with them. Well, hanging out with them was the intention. James pretty much spent the entire time interrogating me about my intentions with his best friend.
But by close to curfew when I needed to leave, I got the impression that I did a good job answering all his questions because they all bid me good night with bright smiles on their faces, promising to hang out with me again soon. Lily even gave me a hug before Sirius snuck me back out of Gryffindor tower.
All I want to do is fall asleep and dream of Sirius' handsome face, but soon Leila is stumbling into the room all giggly and flustered. "What's up with you?" I ask, my interest piqued as to what has her so happy.
She falls back onto her own bed, staring dreamily at the ceiling. "I just spent all evening talking to Regulus." She confesses before sitting up to face me. "I never thought I would be interested in a younger guy but there's just something about him. He's handsome, charming, ambitious and intelligent." She gushes.
I can't help but let out a loose laugh. "He's not even that much younger than you, Leila. I mean he was only born like 8 months after you."
"True. Which I guess is a good thing, because I know he's going to be joining the Dark Lord's ranks soon, as am I. I'm just hoping he sees fit to match us together."
Match us together. She says the words as if it's the most wonderful thing ever, to be placed in an arranged marriage for the sake of maintaining the pureblood line. Maybe I would look at it differently if I was hoping to be matched up with someone I was crushing on.
"That's not how it works." I tell her. "Not everyone gets matched up. Only the most important people that he wants by his side. Everyone else just marries whoever they want as long as they conform with the required pure-blood ideals." I sigh.
"Well, either way I want to marry him. And since we're both going to be Death Eaters, it should work out perfectly fine." She shrugs.
"You know this from one conversation?" I ask.
"We've had more than one conversation and we've fooled around a bit. But you would know that if you weren't always hiding out in the library studying for NEWTs. I mean, what use is Potions and Charms going to serve you when we're serving the Dark Lord."
Right, hiding out in the library, I remind myself. That's the lie I've been feeding her about my whereabouts lately. Of course, she never bothered to question it because out of our seven years here at Hogwarts, Leila Hawthorne has probably gone to the library a grand total of three times, once by accident during our first year when she got lost.
"Potions and Charms can be very useful." I defend, to which she simply shrugs before crawling under her covers. I do the same, turning off the light. I roll over onto my side, and dare to ask her a question through the darkness. One that's been on my mind for quite some time.
"Are you sure about this Leila? The whole Death Eater thing, I mean? It's a big decision. A permanent one. You can't just back out of it. The only way out is death or Azkaban. But even in Azkaban, you're not really free."
She doesn't answer me right away, making me thing that she's already asleep. But then she starts talking. "Of course. It's a good cause and I may seem delicate with my hopeless romantic behaviour but I can handle my own. I can be ruthless and cruel. I'll do what needs to be done to purify the wizarding world."
"Okay, just making sure." I sigh since I'm not sure what else to say to that. I hate the fact that my best friend has such terrible views. Although, if I didn't have to hide my true self all the time, we likely wouldn't be friends. I might not even be a Slytherin. Maybe I would be a Gryffindor or even a Hufflepuff. Definitely not a Ravenclaw though, I'm smart but not that smart.
I'd have friends who like me for me, not the façade I create. Sirius and I would be able to have a completely public relationship and every girl would know he's mine. And every guy would know I'm his. So I fall asleep thinking of an alternate universe where my life is much more simple.

I sit with the Slytherins the following morning for breakfast before Friday's classes start. Between taking bites of my toast and nodding along to whatever Leila is rambling on about, I sneak glances across the dining hall to Sirius, who does the same. But he doesn't have to be as covert as me since his friends now know.
A swarm of owls fly into the room, dropping off packages and letters to various students. I'm shocked when I small envelope is dropped onto my plate by a snowy owl. Weird, my parents never send me anything.
Intrigued, I slip my thumb under the opening to tear it open. Inside, is a short message with their names signed on the bottom of the parchment. Scanning the note quickly, my mouth goes dry.
