I headed straight to Hufflepuff dormitories and threw myself on the bed. Sudden sadness could also be caused by side effects of worn-out elixir but I couldn't shake off the feeling it was also something else. I gave him that dare and if something had happened to him... I don't think I could live with myself. Not after what happened to my sister. I turned on the bed and pressed my face into the pillow and steadied my breath. Everybody is expecting me to be this happy hippie Hufflepuff but sometimes it's hard and overwhelming. And not every emotion begins with H. I pushed that feeling into the back of my mind and after a couple of moments, I looked at the clock. 4.30 pm. I had no idea how much time passed since I came to my room, but I quickly got up. Where is Meg? She is supposed to have detention with me.
Since I had a vague idea about what kind of detention Snape planned for us, I changed from skirt to pants and hoodie. Dungeons are always cold no matter what time of the year it is. I lingered for a bit in the bedroom but Meg didn't show up. I bet the bag of sugar quills that she will be late. Or won't come at all. Sighing, I got up from my bed and slowly headed to the dungeons. Walking through the corridors, I ran into a few Slytherins heading to their dorms, chatting and laughing. I turned into another corridor when I heard somebody call my name behind me. I poked my head from the corner to see two ginger heads bobbing in my direction. They also wore hoodies but theirs were in Gryffindor red whereas mine was in sunflower yellow.
„Where did you leave Meg?" one of them asked when they caught up.
„I don't know where she is but my galleons are on the fact she somehow got out of it."
„Impossible. Nobody can get out of Snape's detentions," George shook his head.
I chuckled and raised my brow.
„Says Griffindor. Meg can be very witty when it comes to this."
They shrugged their arms in agreement. We all knew that Meg can be very slick in getting out of trouble. I wouldn't be surprised if she was able to convince Snape.
We made our way to the classroom where the professor was already waiting for us. Snape with his black cape flowing from his shoulders was sitting behind the table, probably grading Homeworks from the look on his face. But I mean, I could be wrong, he looks upset most of the time.
He didn't do so much as glance at us and pointed his wand to the storage door that opened under a silent spell.
The hinges creaked and revealed a low-lit room full of different ingredients for potions.
„The rags are inside. I need you to clean the shelves, sort through the expired ingredients. And most importantly- you can't use your wands," Snape muttered, his eyes still on the parchment in front of him.
I nodded, but shortly afterward I realized he didn't see it so I mumbled yes and strolled to the storage room.
„Windsor, "the professor raised a bit and he finally looked at me and patted the table, „your wand."
I sighed and put my wand on the wooden table, Weasley twins following me. Then I smiled at Snape.
„I wouldn't have used it, sir."
„And I am head of Griffindor house."
„Oh," I put on my best sarcastic shocked expression, „that's wonderful news then! Congratulations."
I swear if the glare could kill I would be in ashes on the floor five seconds ago. I didn't even know what possessed me to say such a thing but I kind of enjoyed it. I hid my smirk by spinning and heading towards the storage area. By two pairs of footsteps, I recognized that twins have joined me.
